What order do you run the maps in?
I always start in Mystery Lake, old habit I guess. I am really liking the current path that my run has taken me on:

Mystery Lake > Dam/WR > Pleasant Valley (Signal/Farm/Barn/TC) > CH Quonset > DP & killed a moose. All of this occurred within about the first 25 days. I had been running pretty fast at the start.

With the moose hide curing at Quonset, I looted all of CH + killed some wolves, did my crafting, and now I’m headed up TWM with the satchel + well fed buffs.

After TWM, I plan to loot the rest of PV (plane/Skeeters/Draftdodgers), then head to Ravine via WR, and do the first half of BI. At that point I’ll circle around to FM, prob finish BI next, and retire to either MT/BR. Haven’t really thought about when I’ll work HRV in...

Anyway, are there certain zones that you like to prioritize first, before the weather turns bad later? Where do you like to retire to? Which forge do you prefer to hit early game? (Or does it just depend on your random spawn?)

Yea, i mostly start in ML as well, old habit from back in the days. After that i usually go to places with a good amount of loot. MT -> CH -> DP -> PV. That was at least the order of business on my current run. From PV i then went to TWM, back to ML and then FM and BR.

Right now i am heading back to ML again where i will stay for a few maybe, then i will move back to MT and then HRV. BI i leave for the last place. Dunno what to expect about those Timberwolfs ^^

In my current run (day 340) I went along the following: ML->FM->BR->MT->HRV (Base at ML), then I went to PV->TWM->DP->CH with Base at PV. And now I'm looting BI!

I also did a few more runs through Great Bear, one time for the Faithful Carthographer achievement (went from CH back to BR), another time for finding gunsmithing stuff (all maps)

Same.
Random starts in Stalker, Voyageur and Pilgrim, and in Interloper, I have no choice, lol. The game puts me wherever it wants to put me.
I only choose a map in Stalker or below if I am doing a testing run, to test mechanics, try new strategies, or am looking for something to climb (that I darn well know I am not supposed to be trying to climb...). And like Tekkel, I tend to follow my muse, and just go wherever feels good at the moment.

Always random.. But gravitate towards ML at the start.. And usually forging in FM.
So.. Let's assume I'm at ML-FM.. Finished forging.. I'll most likely go loot BR.. Go back to FM-MT-HRV (mystery signal)-MT-ML-PV-TWM (summit run)-CH-DP (finishing game here).

Yes, I finish my survival game.. My rules are.. Game winning is firing flair gun from the lighthouse in DP.. But before that I need to "touch" Mystery signal in HRV and summit (that's checkpoint rule).. I will probably have one more -BI Cannery workshop even though I don't use firearms.. But it would be nice one more requirement for winning the run..

Because I like to get a rifle and a bow early, I always start n Desolation Point, and use Day 1 grace period to collect the Bow at Katie's Secluded Corner, and the Rifle from the cave at the opposite end.

Sometimes, I even manage to get a hatchet or a hacksaw, which allows me to quickly collect the saplings near the broken bridge, saplings above church, saplings near Katie's Secluded Corner, and saplings at the small island near the Rikken, and start curing them. Day 2 or Day 3 is typically "forge day", where I make at least 10 arrow heads and any tools that are still missing (knife, hatchet).

I cull the wolf population using the rifle, and if lucky, I take a shot at the bear just to get it out of the way for free movement.
Around Day 10, I start crafting animal clothing (as needed and depending on available pelts), and by Day 15, I'm usually ready to move towards Coastal Highway. Two or three days spent looting Coastal Highway, then using the mine to reach Pleasant Valley. In Pleasant Valley, I visit the Community Hall and the nearby houses, and then proceed towards Timberwolf Mountain, following the road, OR taking a more complicated route by the Red Barn.

My objective is to reach Timberwolf Mountain by Day 25, and reach the summit and loot all the high-tier loot there by Day 30.

At that point, I should be comfortably at +20°C Warmth / +12°C Windshield bonuses, allowing unhindered movement at all times.

Desolation-CH-Desolation(craft arrow)-CH-PV-TimberW(and summint)-Pv-ML-Milton-FM

Start in PV and head to the hunting bunker location to see if I am lucky this trip..either way then to Signal hill for a pretty good outfitting, then to the farmhouse for a few more clothes then straight to TWM and immediately to the tail section...if successful you are then pretty well set to survive exploring the world. Or start in TWM and try and make the Tail section before freezing.

If I am doing a playthrough in which I am trying to live as long as possible, I tend to start in Mountain Town. I gather up all the supplies in the region and stash them in Grey Mother's house, then take what I need and scour Hushed River Valley for all of its supplies. I take this approach because it's great to get a moosehide satchel at the start of the game. From there, I go to Forlorn Muskeg --> Broken Railroad --> Mystery Lake --> Pleasant Valley --> Coastal Highway (Where I make my permanent base in Quonset Garage) --> Desolation Point. I then go and check out Bleak Inlet via the ravine, and stay there until I get the Cannery Pier workshop open. I return home, and from there go to each region and bring back all the supplies I collected while there and slowly bring them back home to Quonset Garage. Once that painful process is finished, I take on Timberwolf Mountain, also bringing back all the supplies from that region. Bear in mind, I do this on Voyager. I have not yet played Interloper, but I doubt it would as easy to use this strategy.
