Unfindable Supply Cache?

So, I used some charcoal at the vista in PV and got a really huge view of the land- some things, like a prepper bunker I'm, not even sure HOW I saw, but among that was a supply cache.

It appeared on my map, not far from where I was basing out of, so I went to go investigate it pretty early on- but when I got out to it, I checked all around the area, I even put down a spray can symbol directly next to it to make sure I was in the right spot- but I couldn't find the thing at all.

Any clue what to do? Is it hidden under the snow or something? Do I need to find a note first to allow me to see it? Is it part of that new transponder update? Just a glitch?

It's not the bunkers I'm having trouble with, it's a small container icon with "Supply Cache" that shows up when you hover over it.

The Prepper Bunker on my map though is the smaller one, closer to the middle top of the screen.

Pretty sure you can only find and open them during an Aurora.

Here, this is what it looks like on the map. Danger marker for all the wolves around there, but also just to figure out where I was in relation to the supply cache.

Checked around there again, no rocks to investigate- might be that Aurora thing? I'll check it out next time I'm awake during one.

Oohh, interesting- that's new to me. I haven't played since the first part of the DLC came out.

OOof, getting caught in blizzards can very easily be a death sentence. Good luck dude.

Recently I went to investigate the airplane crash site, then fog set in while I was around the destroyed cabins in that area.

Well, instead of waiting inside the basement cabin bit, I tried to wander back to the airplane, thinking I could work out my directions home from there.

I did not.

Instead I somehow wandered North East up to a boarder of the map, and eventually gave up and slept up there- thought I could find my way back to the airplane easily enough and started traveling after waking up with the fog gone.

Got turned around as night fell and walked around the entire eastern edge of the map, got tailed by a wolf, struggled to climb down a cliff side and sprained an ankle and a wrist on the way down, then sheltered in a cave.

Went to go drop some airplane food near the enterance to keep it cold, and the wolf had followed me down from the damn cliff face.

Lobbed an already lit flare at the wolf, then went back to sleep.

Had to treck all the way back to the farmhouse after that. ajshahd

Good thing I had all that airplane crash food on me.

I actually got an aurora I COULD of checked it out on, but I was on zero sleep after having dragged a quartered wolf back to the house- and decided to make the most of going down to "Starving" and losing my Well Fed bonus by doing as much stuff as possible at 0 calories around the base.

Thought checking it out in those conditions would be Pain.

Okay, checked back there during the Aurora, don't see anything though.

Might need to bring something with for it? or maybe it's just a glitch.

It must be one of the rock cache that you have to be right up against to have the text pop up - like the one very near 3 strikes farm in PV. It just looks like a rock basically. Finding the aforementioned cache at 3 strikes farm drove me crazy until I watched a youtube video about it.

Hmm, I didn't notice one at three strikes- is it always there? I could search around for it myself..

And no I've had nothing to do with the Signal Void mission yet, I've just been in PV so far this run.

Wondering if I wasn't supposed to notice this Supply Cache icon without the required tool for it- came up when I used the vista though.

Yes, those you find with survey named "Supply Caches" are special caches only found during Aurora or Fog, with the new shortwave radio that can only be used during said .. "weather" conditions :D

I've only been able to see them with Vista Surveys on the map, so great for planning where to be when an Aurora hits.

Ahh, so I'm missing the tool required for it, that makes sense.

Unfortunately, my attention span is relatively low in games, and I prefer starting over repeatedly from nothing rather then, exploring the entirety of The Great Bear all in one go.

I'm not sure I'll ever get this far into the mainland with a shortwave radio all the way from Forsaken Airfield. Ppf.

If you ever try to do the signal void short story, you will.
I use it as a reason to travel around... which is part of their intended purpose, something to aim for in survival. But that's the beauty of survival mode... ya make yer own fun.
