tf is up with carrots

so the item description of carrots claims that they are ''useful for many recipes'' or something like that, but as far as i'm aware there isn't a single recipe that calls for carrots (or potatoes). i wasn't even able to cook carrots over a fire like the potatoes. i'm assuming they're needed for a special recipe you need to find ? can anyone confirm this?

yeah thought so. i wish you could just make an item like "prepared carrot" or something (just sliced carrots ig) and cook them, or maybe use them as an optional addition to the stews for extra calories or some other small benefit to make them at least somewhat useable in the early game
