I mean the farmstead that's locked out in the fields with the workbench in comparison to the big farmhouse in Milton town itself. I don't play the story mode so I don't know what names are used there, only in survival mode.
I prefer the farm. There is a wolf that patrols the porch but as long as you knock him out, you've got a good base. The big house in town is dangerous due to wolves having cover and being able to surprise you.
But difficulty level plays a large role here.
Another alternative to consider is the small cabin on the hill between the town and the farm. Has a bed, but no fire. And it has a very nice 360 view of the whole area, it's hard for a wolf to sneak up on you there.
Don't forget the Mobile Home up the road. It has a workbench and bed, fire barrel outside, and wolves only occasionally come near. A moose spawn is close to it, and the entrance to HRV is very close.
Orca has a workbench??
