Parasites from cooked meat?
Why does cooked meat have a chance to give you worms? The point of cooking food is to kill the worms.

Then to have it so that the more you eat, the higher chance you get worms from the next piece of meat? How is that even fair, let alone realistic?

I know why you did it devs, i understand the reasoning. But when you make the only renewable food source meat, you can't just penalize people for only eating it.

i do kinda wish that eating cooked meat dosent give you parasites, but yeah, its kinda not fair for some carnavores like me

Fish, rabbits, and deer don't increase your parasite risk.

As Gavroche points out above--you can eat all the stag, rabbit, and fish you want with no risk of parasites. Bon Appétit!

Wait, so only Bear/Wolf meat contains parasites? The 2 meats hardest to get?

Once you have a ranged weapon, wolf meat is the easiest to get because they don't run away and move towards you instead making it easy to headshot them. Part of the reason they introduced parasites was because the wolves were so easy to kill this way that many players playing short games of 200 days or less relied on wolf meat far more than deer, rabbit or fish.

I like the new parasites debuff, because it balances the game out to where you can't just hunt wolves or live of just one bear forever. Because before the update as soon as I got the bow I would just use the bait technique on the wolves to get easy headshots on them, and that just made hunting boring.

So the parasite debuff has given me a valid excuse to hunt things other then wolves and the occassional bear. It has also made saving ammo, using snares, and fishing alot more important.

Why are bears considered carnivores? Why do tree's constantly shed limbs but none of them ever completely fall down? Why can't we siphon cars/generators for fuel? Why do deer do 90 degree turns to dodge arrows? Why can't our player find maps, watch's that wind so we can tell the exact time, and BIC lighters or zippo's?

Things will never be 100% realistic no matter how hard the developers try. To this point I shall reveal the worst truth about this game:

A geometric storm that knocks out all electrical devices would most likely not kill EVERY Canadian. To top it off, it most definitely would have the least effect on Canadians who work & reside in parks like Mystery Lake where they have fire burning stoves and are well versed at outdoor living. If this game was really real, you'd walk into Camp Office and that frozen dude you always find right up the stairs would ACTUALLY be standing behind the desk. He'd be happy to see you. He'd throw a warm blanket on your back while he sat you in front of the fire now roaring in the fire burning stove He'd then offer you that Cooked Wolf meat and you'd have no worry of Intestinal Parasites. The Long Dark would then become The Short Reality.

Geeeeeeez, what a fun survival game that would be.

It doesn't change the fact that cooked meat doesn't have any risk of heaving live parasite larva. Youa re trying to excuse lack of logic behind your idea with invalid argument.

PS. FYII all meat which comes from wild animals can have parasites even deer and rabbits.

Geometric storms don't cause apocalyptic scenario's either. Canadian's don't just die instantly when their electronics fry.

[sarcasm]You hear this devs? Your game has been flawed from the beginning. You fooled us all and we want you to develop this game again from scratch so it can be REAL please.[/sarcasm]

Welcome to the magical world of arguing with status quo apologists.

The assumption, and one I agree with, is you may not always be cooking it properly.

...which is why we should have an option to cook it longer. That leads to a true cost/benefit analysis: cook regular time and take the risk of parasites, or cook longer and eat safely at the cost of more time.

There is no "properly" in this game there is only uncooked and cooked and thats the point. Unless they can add different stages of how meat can be cooked i don't see any reason why we should get risk of parasite from COOKED meat.

I am addressing this in your thread.
