Can't find my dead bear?
Hi, I shot a bear outside the lake cabins (3 cabins with the dead corp ) about 10m out on the ice. The bear launched away on the track back towards the other 3 cabins closest to the campoffice. Blood trail stoped after 20m, went in to one of the cabins to warm up abit, 3h later I came out to find out there was no more blood trail at all. So search all the area between the bear"cave" in the end of the lake to the camp office, incl. the hillside on top of the cabins but the bastard is gone! No birds marking, no blood trail & no, very much needed bear skin....

Any Ideas how to find him, or can they get lost sometimes? I mean I have searched every inch of logic area...

Did you check your Journal to make sure the bear actually died? One more dead bear on your tally?
Since it's a recent kill, pass about 4 to 6 hours indoors (maybe wait till morning if it's evening). Head back outside and listen for crows. If you know the direction they went in then head that way for a bit, again listening for crows. Also wear headphones as you can find which direction they are coming from.

Been almost 2 (ingame) days now, 2 days of searching... The other day when I shoot a deer just outside the camp office it went of up the hill opposite the camp office, I went after & lost the blood trail abit up on the hil, went around and up as far as realistic. Gave finally up and headed back down to the camp office to find the deer laying on the tracks.. Strange things going on hehehe
I had the same experience on an old run for 500 days where I lost the bear at the logging camp area in Mystery Lake after it fled to the hills (literaly) and after the blood trail looped round on itself I couldn't figure where it went. About 5 to 6 days past and I later found it when I went to the logging camp to go for another "shot" at killing the local bear population.

Sometimes they run far way. Most of the time they do not go far. You still have 1 or maybe two 2 days before bear decompose. Try to take different route to the same places you already searched and where you suspect carcass is.

It worked for me few times when i was searching for missing carcasses. I would spend day or two without finding it and then, next day i could see it hidden behind some rock or other obstacle. It was there all the time, and i probably walked next to it multiple times, but i could not see it before since it was not visible from the angle i was looking for.

Normally I wouldn't cry about it but I am going for the "Wraped in furs" achievement and this was the last skin I need. I was crafting all things needed, thinking that I had 2 bear skins to make the B.roll but I only had 1. So went out on the lake to try my luck for bear sight ( the bear hasnt spawned on the lake once during the 52 days run, and to my big surprise & luck there it was.

So easy, quick & convenient... I thought....Hahahaha

Are you sure it died before you went into the cabin? If you go into a building while he is still bleeding out, it resets and you won't get the kill. You have to pass time while being outside.

That bug has been fixed in a recent update. Only the bear at unnamed pond is still bugged.

Try going to it's den - which for that bear is at the top end of the lake, it's a bit obscure just an indent, with some bones - a they usually head back for their dens if you don't chase them down, in my experience. Good luck! :steamhappy:

well, happened to me aswell with 2 wolfes. they charged me while i was walking back home with fresh deer meat. both took an arrow and they bleeded and ran towards the lake cabins on the east side. i never found them, nor the arrows back. i've actually never heard or seen crows in that area, where they had to die... seems like they bug sometimes into the rocks and disappear^.^

I lost my bear kill for a day or so, went back out to track it down and FINALLY found it under a fallen tree, dead... Decided to quarter it to haul it back, and lo & behold, when I finished, my survivor was clipped under the tree and couldn't get back out, no matter how hard I wiggled... :steamfacepalm:

Hit ESC and reload the game, then find the bear again. :steammocking:

This time harvest from a safety distance.

They said they already went inside a cabin to rest... so they saved the game already. So the [Esc] save scum trick won;t work well. They also said in the thread text that they looked into the den at the end of the Lake.

Sounds to me like Old Grumpy may have gone up the hill or across the traclks, off of his usual leash and patrol area. Or possibly down toward the River Southern Access, possibly clipped into rocks or did a Magical Levitating Bear trick and is in some trees, or on top of rocks that have no path for the survivor to climb legitimately.

No crows at all is odd though. Unless the OP is dismissing some that are nearby because they are not in an area where the bear is usually leashed. (OP- predators these days seem to have a much looser leash... their patrols are not so circular and tighly chained these days... and it could be somewhere glitched through terrain or under a scene layer...) :(
