Similar Survival Game to TLD, but in Summer?
I love my TLD. But sometimes I want to have Spring/Summer/Autumn.
I want to travel in single player world, visiting abandoned places and maybe make shelter similar to Trappers' somewhere to stay for a while.

Do you please know such a game? Aasking Hinderland to make it ... that's not a way I think.
(Minecraft, Rising World, Stranded Deep, DayZ, Firewatch ... I have all of them and this is not what I'm looking for)

Maybe in the future will be seasons, information from Hinterland.

Well TLD is my kind of game ...
... but I prefer longtime survival on one place. Making small cabin with fireplace and everything inside. Than moving to other fresh new region :-)
I know it's boring for others though :-C

There isn't really a comparable game out there. Would love to play that myself. Sure, there's a profusion of derpy multiplayer zerg sandbox games with survival elements, but again, nothing comparable to LD. As soldier pointed out, Hinterland's long term plan is stated to be a full season sandbox, but I'm afraid that won't be for at least another year if not longer.

Most pure survival games (i.e.: anything that doesn't have zombies/infected) seem to go in for the harsh environment factor that winter entails. I haven't seen a desert one, and well, surviving in summer would be pretty lacking in difficulty.

Long Term Surival in one place ... IS "TLD" at least after Day 100-300 or so ... you just need to "loot" everything first ... then you can survive for 10.000+ Days or so in one place ...

There is no other good "normal" survival game on this level... maybe someone will make one in near future but to beat TLD they would need to make serious survival game with large in game world (procedural generation FTW!) which would be fotorealisitc or at least have visials on very high level. What usually kills survival game is the boredome and repetitiveness after some time. In game world need to be rich in various locations and in th same time large enough so people can get lost in it (sure you can get lost in TLD but if you walk in one direction you can his end of map in 10-15min). IF team like Hello Games can make game the size of real galaxy then other game developers shoudl be able to make a survival game at least the size of a medium country.

Only they didnt make the universe per se.The only thing they did is create a system to procedurally generate the universe. The devs themselves stated that they dont even know most of the planets.
What im getting at is that creating a map, setting etc. is different from creating a system that generates these for you.

Slight difference in level of detail there though.

But we can pay for new maps as DLC or can visit people's creations in Workshop.
I really missing survival (non-zombie) game which I can literally explore forever :-C

Survival like long dark
Does anyone know of a survival based game with the same syrvival mechanics as The Long Dark but you can go to different biomes and single player or co-op but not server based games like rust
Manel84 Aug 8, 2016 @ 11:28am
I think for that The Long Dark is a unique game, I don't know any other game like this.
Diveyoc Aug 8, 2016 @ 11:32am
Unfortunately no. I've seen some games that look really neat but they are just atmosphere, exploration, and/or puzzle. Not really survival.

Edit: I wouldn't say like TLD. But Alien Isolation looked kind of interesting.

there is Dont Starve, but it wont give you the same feeling as the long dark. it has multiple biomes and seasons and you need to craft certain tools to survive building a base helps, collecting resources. its also sandbox and you have to try to survive for as long as you can, it has a perma death system. its worth a play if you are looking for a survival game with a perma death system like DayZ, Rust and what not.

I've heard a lot of people say the closest they've found to TLD was playing The Forest with the cannibals turned off, so it's pure survival. I haven't tried this myself but I've been meaning to.
GlassDeviant Aug 8, 2016 @ 12:00pm
I've been going through survival games on Steam for a good 8 months now and never found anything with as realistic seeming of a survival experience as TLD. There are some that are close, but have zombies/infected. There are some that have good survival but add magic and other forms of undead and creatures like skeletons and dragons (Savage Lands), or are done as a science fiction shipwreck kind of building/survival game (Empyrion, others). I have avoided The Forest because of the irritating cannibals, but if that can be turned off I might try it.
