Does it help putting meat in a fridge/freezer?
I just killed a bear and got an unbelievable amount of meat, so I was wondering if I was to store all the meat i had in a fridge or freezer, would it help keep the meat longer?

Neither. Put it outside in the snow. Containers in houses (including reefers) used to slow down decomp. Not anymore. Keep it cold and it will last longer. You can also store it in containers outside, such as drawers in fishing huts, but anywhere outside the door will be fine.

Also, I'm in the farmhouse in pleasant valley. Would keeping it on the porch be fine, since i dont think im technically inside?

Put in on the open porches. Check the temp on the closed porch. I think its above freezing.

yes inside meaning with areas that u need a loading screen for. Therefor even destroyed house is alright too.

My rule of thumb is to check the ambient temp. In caves, I store meat at the mouth, not inside the transition zone (where you can cure hides). If a hide will cure there, don't store meat there. Have never really checked the closed porch at PV. Just my gut. Will have to test unless OP can check with one piece of his bear and report back.
Definitely works better on the open porch than the fridge

lol ya cause theres no electricity therefor fridges r useless. I mean if there r u should be able to turn up the light inside buildings.

I don't wanna be off topic, but this is kinda related - when storing meat outside in the snow, I assume it's better to leave it cooked than uncooked, right? or does it not matter

For max time store it raw until 50% then cook it and re-store. Cooking will bump it back up to 100%. With the new cooking skill this strategy may need adjusting.

Semi-related; I've heard good things about storing meat in snow shelters (so wolves can't get to it), although I don't know if wolves go for cooked meat anyway. Thoughts?
In my experience wolves will only go after "decoy meat" so you don't need to worry about having you stash poached.

Since a fridge doesn't work without electricity, I don't see how it would. It sure would be nice if you could pack them with snow, however.
