+1 I like this idea. :)
Hinterland would need to put Oreos into the game. They are vegan. And so are Ritz "salty" crackers. :D
Many Nature Valley Granola Bars are vegan, as are a number of Clif Energy bars, as well as Bear Naked energy bars. Peanut butter is vegan.
Granted, the Pork & Beans would not be vegan, but many brands of Baked Beans do have vegetarian and vegan varieties w/o any animal products. Condensed milk would be out, but there are condensed soy or coconut milks commercially avaiable IRL right now.
It can be done, and you'd be surprised how many "accidentally vegan" foods are commonly found in cupboards. Probably in your own home. And if Hinterland adds the "low hanging fruit" I saw on their roadmap, there would be another vegan food source to be harvested.
Even with what is in the game right now, it would be possible, just very difficult. Vegan is not that hard to do IRL, I have family members who are strict vegans. And we manage to make vegan meals for them when they visit, on our little farm. They require a vegan food prep area, not "contaminated" by the chickens or guinea fowl we raise and butcher for our dinners. But it really is not that difficult.
How are crackers not vegan if they don't use any eggs? Just to confirm, you understand vegan means no non-lethal animal foods (i.e. dairy, eggs, even honey) whereas vegetarian means merely excluding all lethal animal foods (i.e. meat).
Since there aren't eggs, cheese, or honey in the game, I don't see why it has to be a "vegan" challenge particularly. I mean, I guess there's that tinned milk, but that's the only one I can think of off the top of my head.
False. Millions and millions of Hindus, among others, would venture to disagree. But by all means, don't let me interrupt your mindless vegan bashing, so fashionable on the inter nets. But in survival situations, sure, I don't disagree with that. It does require some kind of regular agriculture to be viable.
Stick's salad?
It actually could be very viable once they introduce a full-season sandbox with crop cultivation. On just deer corpses and tinned peaches in the winter sandbox? I honestly don't see it.
Lol! You are probably right. But dangit... when my character is hungry, miles away from base camp and out of ammo to hunt deer...
Some low hanging frozen crabapples, cooked into applesauce in a pot over a campfire would be wonderful. Heck, I hate onions, but some frozen wild onions would even do the trick.
*makes note to self... eat a good dinner before playing a game where your character is always on the brink of starvation...* :D
Well, you are just a sparkly little lollipop made of sunshine and hatred, aren't you?
