The door that recently came with a patch, giving access to the new lower parts of the dam? From the big hall that is?
Guess I´m up for a fight with fluffy then, lol.
As for worrying about killing a deer with an arrow, try to make your shot count. Try to sneak upto the deer, preferably from behind, (not too close, or it'll run away, and you'll have to sneak more) get up, and shoot it on the head. It's instant death. If not, chase it for a while, or rest, let it bleed, and then retrieve your arrow, and harvest. Always retrieve your arrow before harvesting. You won't need extra arrows if you're careful with the ones you have.
If you want to see where exactly weapon cache (possible) spawn location is on ML map check out some of the user made maps on the guide section.
The preppers cache given to me on ML was a foodcache, which was good because I was about to die in lack of food (and lack of finding a rifle, this trip have been my hardest yet and I´ve done a lot of them). I´ll might give PL and try, both for caches and to check those blinds mentioned, but then I´m probably gonna go back to my trapper lodge at ML.
To tell you all the truth though, I kind of suck at the bow and arrow, which is why I want plenty of arrows to practise with ;)
Those dead deer, if you touch them at all, even just to look at their innards, they will then disappear in time in which case there will be NO chance for a random arrow spawn. So if you don't have to, don't touch them. It may pay to make a sweep of those deer corpse locations from time to time. I have come away from Mystery Lake with up to 5 arrows, counting the sure finds.
Using a bow and arrow is hard. It does get better over time with practice. I have gone to DP, now have 14 or 15 arrows and 40 more arrowheads (and a pile of shafts and feathers) but I still, almost always, take only one shot as if I only had one. I am still rather surprised when I loose an arrow and the deer or wolf drops in its tracks.
Heh, I think I have reused the same arrowhead a number of times. At this pace, I may eventually run out of maple for bows and birch for arrow shafts before I run out of arrowheads.
By all means, when one has the chance, go to DP to forge more arrowheads. Knowing one can afford to lose an arrow will be a real comfort.
