Mauled by bear with arrow in head.

I was bow hunting a bear and wounded one and he ran off. I slept for 2 hours waiting for him to drop. I go out and see him walking around and hit him again. This time he charged and I put an arrow right in his forehead. I was surprised when he kept coming and mauled me. I could see the arrow sticking out of his forehead as he was attacking me, I got back up And shot him one last time in the ass and he still ran off. By bow was at 60% and arrows about 70-80%. Does that affect the damage done by the arrow? Or could it just be a buggy? I've never had an animal not drop after a direct head shot.

I think you would have to get a critical hit to kill him dead in one shot. Otherwise you'll have to wait for him to bleed out. I don't believe arrow/bow condition effects damage, but I haven't tested it.

Yes, arrow and bow condition do affect your RNG results; meaning a crappy bow and deteriorated arrow have higher chances of lower damage.

Out of 35 bears killed in my current game, I think only 30% were one shot when hit around the nose/eyes.

I have had better luck shooting bears in the side of the head instead of straight on. Straight on usually hurts - me. Coincidentally, I had my very first one-shot bear kill with a bow tonight. Yay! It was a side head shot.

Most animals can sometimes survive a headshot although they bleed out faster I suppose.

Bears are really tough XD my uncle told me about a time he was hunting in MN (he’s a legit woodsman who stalks his prey and eats it too, not some trophy hunter) and he and his hunting partner got charged by a PO sow. It took his whole magazine and some bullets from his partner to actually take it down, and even then it was still gowling at them.

A bears skull is very thick, not sure if they took that from real life, but its true, unless you shoot thru the eyes the bullet or in this case arrow wouldnt harm it at all, they should make it as the real hunters do, shoot it behind its front paw straight into the heart.
