As a rule I play by: don't look at the % look at the "descriptor" if it's stale? Then ok it's probably alright. If it's moldy? Why would you want to eat it? (But you might have to) If it's rancid? You better get ready for some toilet time
Same is true for cans (new dented banged up rusty) the % never means much to me anymore
