Fish and fuel
I've read somewhere in the latest changelog that fishes now can be a source for lantern fuel, but can't find it anymore. How do this thing exactly works?

Catch fish, cook fish. Oil gets added to your inventory. Use it to refuel your lantern, makes torches, start fires.

The lamp oil will go into containers like a jerry can or lantern fuel bottles. If you don't have any, one will be created, just like water bottles, as many as may be needed. The lamp oil will NOT go directly into your lantern, a lantern fuel bottle will be created instead. The quality of the bottle seems to be randomly determined. If you already have containers, it seems the higher quailty ones get filled first. Act accordingly.

How do you start a fire with oil?

If you have over .30 ltr of oil in inventory ( I think the amount is correct) on the menu when you start your fire the bottom area is for accelerants. Click on the arrow. If you have oil in your inventory it will let you select it. Instant 100% chance to start a fire with most materials.

Ah ok, so you use it as accelerant. Thank you

If you want a "heafty" amount of oil then you need to fish for a while :/ you get 0.03 oil from a lake white... But hey it's better than nothing

The "common" fish produces 0.02 to 0.05 (averages about 0.03) liter per fish (probably varies depending on the weight of the fish). The "uncommon" fish produces about 3x as much per fish, probably on the same basis (by weight).

Common fish - lake whitetail? and trout. Uncommon - small mouth bass and salmon.

Also noticed that fish yield a bit less than rabbits in calorie density (roughly 400 calories per kg) now, likely the tradeoff for getting lamp oil from them.

ETA: Common fish seem to yield about 2.5% per kg and uncommon fish about 3.5% per kg. Since uncommon fish tend to be significantly heavier that accounts for greater lamp oil yield per fish.

You can use the oil to make torches as well, which is super handy.

Yep thats how im starting fires. Saves a lot of matches that is great in interloper.

However in order to have a torch crafted you would need to fish 666 (0o) fishes. A bit hard as a task.

Edit
sorry used way too much zeroes in the division... 7 should be enough :)

Lighting a torch saves matches as it can be lit with a single match but you can then attempt as often as you like to start the fire. Only tinder will be used up in case of failure.
Once the fire is burning you can extinguish the torch and use again later.

Out of 0.20 l of accelerant you get two torches. Each one can be used to attempt starting at least 10-15 fires.
