Where do You Find Things in Pleasant Valley?
I never go to Pleasant Valley for 3 reasons: 1, because I can't find it, 2, because I can't find a way out of it, and 3, because I can't find any structures when I spawn in it. HELP!

Maps are handy. If you have a map of PV, you should at least be able to find your way to a building or two.

You will find three kinds of beautifully crafted maps for most of the game here:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=530202531

There are basic (minimal spoilers) maps that give you a sense of the terrain and indicate some big picture things. There are intermediate maps that indicate almost everything except loot. And, there are maps that show almost everything.

Some people like them, some people love them, and some people neither love nor hate them. (If you don't want to use them, you don't have to use them. Doh.)

They are made by the amazing Danish cartographer, Whiteberry. A profile here:
http://hinterlandgames.com/community-profile-whiteberry-mapping-a-world/

I was lost until I found Whiteberry's maps.
thank you SO MUCH. These maps are amazing.

I knew there had to be somone out there that liked Pleasant Valley. Nice to meet you but you will never but never see me in Pleasant Valley unless I am passing through (just as fast as I can). I hate that map. Now if there was a way to move Signal Hill to CH or TWM......

If you get lost (and believe me you'll get lost even with a map) always try to find and follow roads, riverbeds and powerlines. In Pleasant Valley you always have to Radio Tower for reference.

It's not a reference when there's a blizzard out! But, KoA is right, learn those riverbeds - easiest way to get around in PV (you're low, so you can usually hug one side and get out of the wind, generally not very wolfy, you gotta collect the cat tails anyway).

If there's a blizzard, don't sweat it, (pun intented) just build your little snow shelter and crawl in the to wait it out - back in the day we didn't have snow shelters, the best thing the devs ever did was give us the means to make and use them. Pleasant Valley holds no fears for me now.

Always check your weather as well...see if the sky is getting too dark, the wind too strong, those are usually signs a blizzard is coming. If you hop from one safe place to the next, you'll probably never get caught out in the open...probably lol.

Checking the weather has never helped for me nor has the so called musical change that takes place when the weather is starting to change. I hear music in the game but allways figured it was ambience since the weather has rarely changed. I have noticed windy days and dark days, but no blizzrds, so i don't know what you're referring to. Maybe because i use an older machine and i dont have all those fancy hi-tech graphics. Best way to determine bad weather is the crows. If yu don't hear or see them then it's about to hit the fan.

You can tell if it's a blizzard vs. a regular snowstorm because the temperature will drop dramatically. Like even with top condition high quality gear, and sheltered from the wind, the Feels Like can still be in the -20's. In those situations, if I know I'm near shelter, I will usually strip off my clothes and make a break for the closest place. I'll accept the cold damage in exchange for not ruining my clothes. Then just throw them back on once you're inside and wait for the storm to pass.

If I know I'm going to be moving very slowly, like if I'm hauling 50kg of junk from one safehouse to the next, I always carry 10 sticks and 3 cloth as blizzard protection. If a blizzard pops up, take off the clothes, build a snow shelter, get in, get dressed, and wait it out.

This will probably all change once the frostbite thing comes out. But for now it works.

I love Blizzard Alley, I mean Pleasant Valley, it's where I'm at now in my current sandbox. After living like a caveman so long in TWM it feels like a vacation. I've been exploring it trying to find prepper's caches. Not the one by the rope, the ones that spawn randomly.

I am, however, not insane like my fellow wolf hunter ajb1978. I will leave my clothes on, thank you very much. I'll hunt for hide and repair if need be. I think his character must feel more confident without clothes, it's too bad we can't paint ourselves blue and run around like half-mad Scotsmen ingame.

The funny thing is in an earlier post I was talking about the time I charged out of Quonset buck naked, carrying a knife, and killed an entire wolf pack in melee with berzerker fury lol

"ACH! C'mere ye little doggy! I'll caber toss ya from here to Glasgow!"

Lol I think I was there for that. It's part of the reason why I mentioned it..in fact now that I think of it most of your stories end like this: "...then I got naked and killed a bunch of wolves with a knife." Hahaha

Pleasant Valley isnt so bad. If you hit the radio tower first it will give you a good head start

I personally beeline to the farm house. It's smack in the middle of the map, and makes a great home base. Plus you can drop into the rivers easily and use them as roads, which helps traverse to other locations while avoiding both wind and the local wildlife.
