Drawing a map is only 10 min or so but you now have to watch your ass when you do any kind of time consuming activity.. Which makes sense to a point, I personally would stop drawing a map if a wolf was in my face.
As I said I play on and off and it's been a while since I played. I guess I was used to the old system that you described. But I did draw part of the map in ML with no issues so I got comfortable, too much maybe. Take out the charcoal, click, sit back and wait. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Good to know I wasn't just lucky before.
You can carry some stones. Crouch and throw a stone in a direction where you might not have good visibility and wait to see if a wolf comes to check out the noise. If nothing comes running, you should be in the clear.
You could also just crouch before you use the charcoal, less chance of a wolf seeing you in the process as they need to get very close.
Also, if you are carrying any stink, guts or meat...make sure to drop these on the ground before charcoal mapping.
But yeah, IIRC it takes 15 minutes. I have not tested it since the mapping feature came out.
Heh, never had a bear sneak up on me like that, but I assume that would suck pretty bad.
