Meat harvesting question's
So some times Ive noticed that a knife is faster some times using an axe is faster is this todo with how frozen the corpse is? Of is it the sharpness of given any given tool?
Also is quatering say a bear worth it? as I've not bothered as of yet, but bear harvesting and returning to a base location is a long process when your half the map away from your base / camp. considering how fast the weather changes.

hatchet is better on frozen meat, not pelt or gults, just meat.

i rpefer use hacksaw if I have it as it si easier to repair.

Afaik sharpness does not affect it at all (tbh I am not sure if it affects anything - like fights).

Imho is better harvest all meat on place (while 0% frozen) and keep it on frozen ground.. have quite few days before it decay to 50% to be cooked back to 100. Should eb doable pick all up in 2 or 3 trips. Quarter jyou spent less time with harvesting outside but need spend more later for actual harvest later anyway. Does not exactly help if your target is to trasnfer everything, but can be helpful if you want minimize your time outside.

I definately recommend quartering for bears. The volume of meat is very large and moving it to a safer place to harvest and store is easier when quartered. You can easily freeze to death trying to harvest a bear in place, or use a hellofalotta wood to keep a fire burning the whole time.

Harvested meat in large quantities will produce more scent on you when transported. Quarters don't smell as much. Just be sure to harvest when you arrive since quartes decay faster than harvested meat.

A sharp blade will definately induce more damage when fighting a wolf tha a dull one.

This may not be the 'best' overall tactic, but I quarter everything that can be. It's 1-3 hours of knife/hatchet use, and maybe a fire for heat, but the rest can be done by hand inside. If Quartering could be done with a saw, it would be a no brainer.

You can stop quartering in the middle (if the weather turns bad) and progress is saved. The hide and guts are dropped on the ground so you get them when you want to (they wont rot or cure in the snow) then the meat sacks can be carried to a safe place to harvest them later. Meat sacks will decay and disappear like a carcass, but once safe they're easy to harvest by hand.

When the character can harvest frozen carcass by hand things might be different, depending on needs and weather. But early - mid game, I quarter everything.
