Will wolves and bears enter caves (real caves, aka 2-layer, that count as indoors for curing hides)

I'm curious about caves like these being viable for a semi-long term base. They totally lack storage (though there is a lot of floor space to drop things), and are somewhat affected by storms, but still. Since there is no loading screen, you'd be immune to cabin fever at least.

If you are talking about non-transit caves, the answer is yes, carnivores may enter these caves.

I'll be more precise, the 2-layer caves are the best starting-semi long term bases for sure, a wolf/bear will go in but only if you "lure" it into the cave WHICH IS THE BEST THING EVER.

Even if somehow they follow you in just shimmy onto the rocks in the back and you'll be totally safe.

what is an example of a 2-layer cave? can you explain?
FPStewy Jan 12, 2018 @ 11:51am
If for some reason they happen to follow you in just go onto those rocks

and they will just turn around and leave.

The bear cave on Misanthropes for ex is a single layer cave, those cave don't have a warm bonus in the back. The longer cave that have a +10 bonus are 2-layer caves.

The connector caves are Not affected by storms and the 2-layer caves are so I think he's talking about the 2-layer caves.

so as long as i didnt accidentally lure a carnivore in and go to sleep before noticing it, it would work. :)
ZorTheCruel Jan 12, 2018 @ 11:58am

If you lure a bear into a cave and sleep for 6hrs then I can't help ya :)

well there is that stage where they are long-range scent following you and they dont make the pre-charge growling sounds, etc. :)

Yes, I was killed by one inside the cave behind Hunter Blind in BR.

I guess he was attracted by a cooked venison in my backpack when I briefly leave the cave to look for wood, but are too dark and I return in seconds... and moments latter bear attack, not time even to try use the rifle.
:steamsad:

A wolf enter the cave at right the forger in FM, caution with you smell.
