Farmhouse key in Wintermute

I started a new run in the updated Wintermute and for the life of me, I can't find the key to the farmhouse door. It used to be on a body in the snow near the farm, but the one body I found nearby didn't have it. I did find some of the safe deposit box keys, but not the house key.

Did you check the truck parked under the "carport" shelter off to the side? Also possible I think on the body in the barn.

Also can spawn in the tractor next to the barn

Checked all three locations. No key.

Is it going to be impossible to continue the story if I can't get into the farmhouse? Right now, I'm expending as much calories hunting and killing rabbits as eating them just trying to fill the Grey Lady's fridge. I need a way to kill bigger game and a rifle would be handy.

Sounds like you are trying to play the game like Survival Mode. Story Mode is just that. You follow a scripted story. You need to complete certain quests to unlock some things. You need to follow the story.







Hint: You will not find a rifle in Episode 1. You may not have unlocked the trigger for the key to spawn yet.

I thought you just walked in the door since they did the redeux. I remember looking for the key and feeling silly afterward.

Well, I'm playing it now and you can't just walk in. It's locked. I'm still going through the story in Milton, so I'll see if it get's triggered by a later action. Thanks for the hint IFIYGD.

Nope! Still have to find the key in survival as recently as last week.

Yeah, I wanted to play it again since they updated it. You don't have to almost die to get to Milton after you crash. It's been nicely streamlined. Still have to do yet another Grey Mother story trek to see if that farmhouse key spawns.

Well, you don't need the key after a certain story line. They did change the main story quite a bit. Glad I'm doing another Wintermute run through.
