Unigine Superposition is currently THE graphical benchmark for the PC:

Their older Valley and Heaven tests can also be extremely demanding, and I would tell you to give them a try. For general purpose benchmarking, I suggest you check out RealBench.

HWBot is an excellent benchmarker's resource and leaderboards, you can download and upload your scores for braggin' there, if you think your rig got the guts for it :)

Just a tip for a newbie, make sure your computer's cooling is doing good before you stress test it.

All of these are good, I run them all on my rig. HWBot is actually for competitive benchmarks, all the world records are in there.

Unigine actually attempted to release Superposition on Steam Greenlight, but apparently Valve turned them down.

You can also use the basic version of 3DMark (limited benchmarks) by downloading the "demo version" from Steam itself (go in page and select "download demo")
