Bleak Inlet: Cars with fuel tank openings???
First time I have noticed this! On the Long Bridge in Bleak Inlet you can open a lid on the cars to the petrol tank...however you can't seem to be able to actually do anything with them. Am I missing something? Can you siphon the fuel out by any chance? I vividly remember this being discussed on a wish list in 2017. Did it actually happen and if so how do you do it?

You can open them on many cars/vehicles in the game. It has no purpose in the game right now. Just something you can do, but you cannot find anything in the opening, and you cannot siphon the gasoline (petrol) from the tank. Been that way for a while.
None of us know if the devs ever intended or still intend to put a use to that or not.

Could be a trap to trick us into spending time outside the vehicles, while wolves sneak up behind us?

I know I will not find anything there, but I still open those things, lol.

All the cars have openable fuel caps. They serve no purpose except as a way to mark them as searched.

Yeah never any things under visors. Only in this fanmade movie.

Some of us flip them down to be able to tell quickly if we have searched that car or truck completely. For me, it's "driver's side visor down = interior of car searched" and "Passenger's side visor down = trunk searched", "both visors down = entire car searched". Different people use them in different ways that make sense to them. Just a little useful, so i don't jump into a car and wast time clicking the glove box if I have already looted it, and lets me know which cars with locked trunks I need to come back and check when I find a prybar.

Ha, you do feel obligated to check just in case! Much like the sun visors (which I have never found anything behind)!!!

I still can't believe after all these years I have never noticed these lids for the fuel tanks before? Going to take a trip back to Coastal Highway (lots of cars there) to see if they actually are on the cars there as well!

I usually lift the hood if I have searched it. Easier to spot.
If you lift the hod, and you are in the car, on any mode besides Pilgrim, you may not be able to see a hostile bear, or wolf/wolves or even a Moose lurking around in front of the vehicle. Used to do the same thing with the hood myself, but learned the hard way on Stalker that it was not such a good idea. Got my face torn off a few times until i switched to using the visors. >.<

I can't walk away from a vehicle without opening the fuel tank, opening the visors, and opening the hood. It means nothing but it's compulsory.

Same here. Buildings and cars with hoods that don't open I mark with an X using spray paint.

This is awesome. I used to use the hoods as well, but I too was ambushed getting out of a car recently. Plus, with the recent nerf to crouching while getting out of a car, I've been rethinking this strategy. Also, some hoods won't open.

I'm going to adopt this double-visor strategy. Thanks for the idea! :coffeeTLD:

Lol, yeah. Jump in a car to outrun a wolf or bear, with the hood open, and forget that the wolf or bear you were trying to get away from is probably still around... can end badly sometimes. The visors for marking cars as searched just works better for my playstyle, though they are harder to see from a distance or in blizzard/foggy conditions. Pros and cons, always a trade off in this game.

Hope you are dong well Jay, I keep finding you lying under a murder of crows out there. Makes me worry for you a bit. :spazwinky::coffeeTLD:

Well, opening the hood used top have no purpose until Bleak Inlet and batteries. Perhaps it's on the dev roadmap.

I'm doing well, regardless of what my corpses say! Long time, no talk. I've seen you pop onto the forum here and there lately, did you take a little TLD break? Good to see you my friend. :coffeeTLD:
No TLD break, I am just playing offline right now, or playing on XBox One or Switch these days. More of a *Steam online* break. Most of my online hours on my profile are from falling asleep with one of the games I am trying to 100% left on, lol. Just busy these last few months, and a little fed up with people, including those I have had to be home with for the last year or so.

Just lurking a lot more and posting less.

Good to see you too Jay. :coffeeTLD:

Is there any equipment currently that can siphon gasoline/petrol out of a car? Maybe that's what they're waiting for. Good find though! I never knew this

I thought at some point in the game the visors will have a key to some locked house or door within it.

Maybe the fuel tank openings add to the immersion? i.e. not everything has a useful purpose just like real life <shrug>
