The Long Dark 2021 Story/Survival/Collectible Challenges

I decided to create some stories/challenges for people who like to take The Long Dark to the limit.
Do you find yourself bored or don't know what else to do? Feel free to pick up a Game Mode or a Challenge to spice your day.

GAME MODES

Choose a game mode for your next run


1 - Vampire
"Being lonely has turned you into the worst creature in the Great Bear Island. You hate the day light"
- You can travel only by night.


2 - Soft Skin
"You spent too much time at the sun. You suffered sun burns and your skin is very sensitive"
- You can only travel from dusk till dawn.


3 - Scary Guy
"You are scared of the trees, the birds and the wind, you keep looking every where, affraid of the snow itselft"
- You can only travel by day.


4 - Part Time Job
"You are very lazy and like to sleep a lot like a cat"
- You can Travel / Explore / Hunt / Grind for 12 consecutive hours, then you need to rest for the following 36 hours.


5 - Stealth
"You feel someone is watching you. Is it in the sky? Behind a tree? Waiting for you in a corner?"
- Travel only crouched.


6 - Party Dude
"You like to try out everything. You are always in the front row. What is a challenge?"
- Mix all the modes above in a single run. Don't skip steps.

STORY CHALLENGES

1 - The Beach Guardian
"Your job is to maintain and repair all fishing huts"
- Inspect all fishing huts in the Great Bear Island. Leave 50 sticks inside all of them.


2 - Control Expert
"Your job is to mantain and repair all the towers"
- Inspect all radio towers, shortwave towers and lookouts. Leave 50 sticks by all of them.


3 - Hunter Maniac
"You like to hunt everywhere"
- Inspect all Hunters Blind. Leave 1 bow, 5 arrows, 2l of water and 1000 callories inside all of them.


4 - Navy Retired
"Your job is to mantain and repair all the lighthouses"
- Inspect all lighthouses. Leave 50 sticks by all of them.

SURVIVAL CHALLENGES

1 - Vegan
"You have empathy for animals and you look at them as equal"
- Survive 100 days eating only plants and teas.


2 - Naked
"Who needs clothes?"
- Survive 100 days without wearing any clothes.


3 - Lazy Hunter
"You don't like to use weapons"
- Survive 100 days eating only snared rabbits and cattail plants.


4 - Haunted Houses
"You feel ghosts are inside all the houses in the Great Bear Island"
-Survive 100 days without entering houses. You can enter caves, mines, The Dam and other connecting points with an interior.


5 - Sushi Lover
"You don't like meat"
-Survive 100 days consuming only fish and cattail plants.

COLLECTIBLE CHALLENGES

1 - The Mechanic
"Since you were a kid, cars have always been your passion"
- Collect 50 car batteries. Gather all of them in Bleak Inlet, by the milling machine.


2 - Honeycomb Fanatic
"You are too lazy to loot the world and you trust the sea to give you everything you need"
-Collect 300 beach items. Gather all of them in Quonset Gas Station.


3 - DJ
"You love music"
- Turn on 50 radios, inside cars and houses.


4 - Stone by stone
"You don't need man made buildings"
- Build 5 rock caches in every location in the Great Bear Island.


5 - Art Collector
"You like paintings and your dream is to open an art museum"
- Take aurora pictures capturing the following:

Ash Canyon: Foreman's Retreat /Angler's Den
Bleak Inlet: Long Bridge / Last Resort Cannery
Broken Railroad: Hunting Lodge / Broken Bridge
Coastal Highway: Quonset Garage / Misanthrope's Homestead
Crumbling Highway: Abandoned Harris Home / Abandoned Mine No. 3
Desolation Point: Lonely Lighthouse / Stone Church
Forlorn Muskeg: Old Spence Family Homestead / Shortwave Tower
Hushed River Valley: Mysterious Signal Fire / Twin Sisters Falls
Mistery Lake: Camp Office / Carter Hydro Dam
Mountain Town: Hermit's Cabin / Mackenzie's Crashed Plane
Pleasant Valley: Three Strikes Farmstead / Skeeter's Ridge
Timberwolf Mountain: Tail Section / Mountaineers Hut
The Ravine: Raven Falls Trestle
Winding River: Carter Hydro Dam


6 - Serial Killer
"You are a killing machine"
-Kill 200 rabbits, 150 deer, 100 wolves, 50 bears and 25 moose in a single run.


7 - Never Alone
"You found a prybar in the middle of a cave. From that day on, the two of you became inseparable"
- Take a picture of a prybar in the following locations:

Ash Canyon: Homesteader's Respite
Bleak Inlet: Coastal Highway Terminus
Broken Railroad: Rickety Foot Bridge
Coastal Highway: Train Unloading
Crumbling Highway: Road Collapse
Desolation Point: Matt's Truck
Forlorn Muskeg: Poacher's Camp
Hushed River Valley: Little Bear and Cub Falls
Mistery Lake: Trapper's Homestead
Mountain Town: Crashed Prison Transport Bus
Pleasant Valley: Point of Disagreement
Timberwolf Mountain: Landing Gear
The Ravine: Tunnel
Winding River: Carter Hydro Dam window


8 - By the lenses
"The sea brought you a camera. You will never miss another moment"
- Collect all polaroids from the Great Bear Island.

FANATIC CHALLENGES

1 - The Novelist
"You love this game"
- Write down the sentence "Hinterland Studios, The Long Dark, rated 5 stars" using only stones.


2 - Songwriter
"Music is your passion, and you play the drums"
- Using only sticks, write down the lyric "The Sound of Silence". Letters need to have a 2 sticks height.


3 - CHALLENGE GOD
"The Great Bear Island is your playground"
-Complete all the challenges above.
