The little one near the farmhouse is not the right one. You'll know you found the right one when you see the truck parked inside. It's a big red barn, hard to miss.
Been a while since i played this event, but IIRC, the game only keeps time while you are in the actual location. going outside to hunt, collect wood, etc, stops the timer. You must spend 72 hours inside the location. If it says "Farmhouse", it means inside the Farmhouse, not out looting the sheds or collecting firewood from the trees around it.
As far as the thread granny linked, idk about that, if it's a bug or not. Keep in mind the game has some oddities, one of those being the way the time stats are recorded in the Journal not matching up with actual in-game time.
Lots of videos on YouTube and other platforms about the challenge, look for the most recent ones, as I am not sure if updates over the years have changed anything major in the Nomad Challenge. It's been years since I did this one. Probably a Guide or 2 in the Steam Guides section for this game, click the Guides tab up above. No idea how up-to-date any may be, though. The online Fandom Wiki probably has a page for the challenge, and there are likely a number of player/fan blogs out there as well. The online forums are sure to have threads about the challenge: https://hinterlandforums.com/forums/ .
I'll keep note of that, looks like I'll need to stock up on supplies.
