Will they ever adress the dwarfsized character
Hi,
I really want to get into the game, I love the Artstyle. But everytime I start I stop about an hour in, because of the camera angle.
It looks like the character either doesnt have any legs, or he is a Gardengnome. You are literally at the same height as the rabbit youre trying to hit with stones.

Its completely immersionbreaking.

Is there any mention of the developer changing this or if it is a bug or intended feature?

Thanks.

Uh? I'd say its a bug because I don't have this problem at all. I'm like way taller than black wolves, so a good and normal height. That's weird

It's not a bug. Anyone can see it. The character is too small compared to the environnement (map). Wolves suffer of the same problem.

I don't see it. Short compared to what? The rabbits aren't anywhere near as big as you're suggesting. Doors seem to be about the right height.

Let me guess, you also walk REALLY slow too...

Exactly.
Lemme guess again... is there also a little white icon in the lower right of the screen?

I don´t know if it is cinema/cartoons fault but some people think wolves are big as camels, in fact they are like big (not huge) dogs, some of scary ones has like half meter height...

Partialy I agree with OP when I walk an open area I feel the camera too close to the ground, but never felt it much distracting. Also sometimes i feel the opposite, like when I enter in Community Hall those inside two-winged doors seems way too small I worry that i will hit the upper part with my head.

Lol.
*sees a "walking in crouch" reference above (something many players have done accidentally over the years)*

The game is not meant to be "true-to-life" realistic. Design choices were made. Giant bunnies? The island was obviously a place of Hunting and Fishing tourism years ago. Hunting blinds and fishing huts, a fenced-off Hunting Lodge where canned hunts may have taken place. Big bunnies and smaller wolves, giant moose and huge deer with big racks. Perfect easy targets and big trophies for "soft" hunters from the mainland with money. Except now that they have taken over the island in the absence of humans being there to contain them, they have become feral, and a geomagnetic disaster has made them act strangely.

Design choice and story lore. Don't expect them to change much now hat the game is near completion as far as Wintermute goes, and be glad that Survival mode and Challenge Modes, once only meant to be testbeds for new mechanics and regions for Wintermute episodes, got popular and grew a big enough fanbase for hinterland to add them permanently to the game during early Access/Game Preview stage. Hinterland has not charged anything for major updates to survival mode, or new Challenge Modes added to the game.

Maybe in TLD 2 if/when it happens they will rework scaling and perspective. Maybe not. But don't hold your breath for them to make major changes to things here that are not actual bugs, just design choices. Personally, I like the MegaBunnies. Makes them easier to hit with a stone or an arrow. :deadlyrabbit:

Screenshots, I need to see these giant rabbits.

It's not a bug and op is correct, the main character is pretty clearly a midget given how close to the ground the camera is compared to most other first person games. However... this is a deliberate effect. You'll spent a LOT of time in this game picking things up or inspecting things on the ground. Having a realistic camera distance from the floor would make this much more fiddly. The lower perspective is just a quality of life choice.

Yes, I have the same experience. When crossing bridges or collecting mushrooms from stumps, I feel like I am walking on my knees. However, when indoors in some locations, particularly the community centre in PV, I feel like my eyes are level with the doorjams.

Aside from those specific situations, however, my character seems like they are of average height.

If it in this case then make sense, yes.

This bothers me mostly when I'm walking on a partly snow-covered road, or crossing a bridge. Then my head is clearly at my IRL ankle height.

But I don't want them to change it. Instead, I want them to change the character art to be of short grown people, in order to make it consistent with the gameplay. Then being the height of a leg wouldn't bother me a all.

Exactly, the camera is too close of the ground.
