Take hatchets. Since there is no forge there, and you NEED hatchets to get through some new plantlife that blocks a bunch of stuff, you need hatchets, until you manage to find the random Imp hatchets that *may* be laying around.
Lots of wolves, beware the Fluffy Ice Cave wolf. Bear also, not sure if Moose are there, but I think some folks have reported signs?
Seriously dense trees, map has a ton of vertical space that must be covered to get to big loot drops and interesting new feature areas.
Have the best clothing you can. the hidden caches give some clothing, but there are no houses to loot for more, the drop rate and condition is likely going to be really low for an Interloper, and there is no workbench to craft animal skins clothing or gear. There is a possible Moose satchel at the one most notable special location. Not sure if it is guaranteed or not.
Not sure what else I can share. I haven't lived long enough in Voyageur or Stlker to really know the entire map, and my Pilgrim runs are likely as different as can possibly be, so not really good for comparison for a Loper.
thanks IFIYGD fot the other info. i crafted hatchet a day ago :)
Ice caves are warm, good places for sleep, may have... "room mate".
Tricky will be posting a video on how to speedrun from the transition cave to the Mysterious Signal Fire... and he'll do it in 5 in game hours or less. Legit. In Interloper.
I would almost bet my life on it, that if anyone can, it will be Tricky.
Challenge offered...
(Waits for Pagan to show up and throw things at me... lol!)
Also, always have a way out of your location. The climbing can be a little convusing in this region.
All that said, my LONG run hasn't ventured there yet :D (I'm not crazy) and I DO take possible spoiler pics because I cannot resist. :D
We all have our own way of enjoying this tremendous game!
To the OP - the region appears much more bare than it really is. As you look more closely you'll find there is quite a lot here! Good Luck!
(I'll be stashing the blades to cut my way outta this freaking mess I found after *smartly* climbing backwards down something think I was only supposed to climb up...xD )
