I'm wondering if the cause is a wolfskin coat. In TM they have taken offense to my stylish coat. While in ML, FM, BI, and AC they seem disturbed.
Or maybe it's the actively preying on them.
I even use rabbit snares to catch a rabbit then camp the sight waiting for a wolf.
Yes, even with meat are not able to attract these wolves for near Angler's Den, seems they meet a invisible wall, same happens with the wolves near the Broad Falls, when they go between trees at left. Interloper "vanilla" game.
If I remember right you can find it by doing this;
Approach the cabin with it on your right walking about 5 feet from the shore line.
might be a tree that was not rendered.

I tested and and is not need start the climb near the fall, but in a area clear of rocks, with snow, where is possible climb down from high level what save some sprains.
This; and there is a moose spawn nearby.
I Haven't maxed my fishing skills yet, For that I think Mystery Lake might be a better location.
Close to the lodge with a work bench, multiple stoves, loads of wolves and even a bear.
The trick is to have enough firewood to harvest oil. Close enough to FM to stock some caches.
I don't think the wolf was "invisible" what I think happened is it was below the terrain.
I had one do the same in TWM near the cabin. it spawned on top of a rock and could not get down but kept running inside the rock depending on where I was. I managed to shoot it with an arrow. now there are crows circling the rock with no visible carcass.
I have also noticed that spent shells are dropping below the snow when the snow is on a rock, rooftop, or log.
It's great for getting to the high ground fast, and for general hunting. But if you want to fish, or are in the lower valley for whatever reason, it takes a long time (and several wolves) to get back to it. Too bad there's not a rope climb somewhere between it and Bitter Marsh, that would solve the access issue.
Homelanders Respite was a bitter disappointment after days of searching for it. No resources or work table without climbing up or down massive ropes. I hit it and forget it. Back to Timberwolf Mountain to farm rabbits, fish, cull wolfs, and hunt the occasional bear or moose.
You can climb down ("goat") for Angler's Den going fro Climber's Cave in direction of the ropes for High Meadow and at left of the rope first follow a gap in the rocks.
Or, climb down the rope for the suspension bridge over Shattered Cove and at left, before the bridge "goat" down for bitter marsh, keep on the rock wall of the left side until the stream and then go for Fishing Hut, most time a free wolf path (Interloper).
The safe way to return for Climber's Cave is via High Meadow - 2 ropes up, 2 down.
Curious, in my Stalker and several Interloper games I don't find Rabbits in Bitter Marsh, where do you find them?
Thanks @wilky for the video and I may give it a try but i am using a mouse & keyboard.
Yeah it's easy to get down from there, the getting up was what I was mostly talking about. Taking the Fire Overlook/High Meadow rope climb way is certainly safer in terms of wolves. But that's a heckuva lot of rope climbing, and almost as roundabout as walking the lower path.
What that area really needs is a single short rope climb from Bitter Marsh up to the Climber's Cave area. I'm guessing Hinterland didn't put one there on purpose to force you to take really long routes to get to it. Sometimes their map route designs are so transparently annoying, it's like you can tell they want you to be frustrated. I mean, if that were a real place someone would have put a rope there lol.
The method of control don't matter, I play with keyboard/mouse and have climb for H.Respite at least 4 times.
