Moose Spawning
How rare are mooses? I'm custom and I think I set their spawn rate to medium same as bears. So far though I've only seen a bear in clear cut and a bear in the far end of muskeg. How long should I expect to wait for a moose? My main plan to to roam between the 2 spawns right outside trapper and the cabin near unnamed pound. Also will sleeping outside in the shelter near trapper's affect the spawn chance?

In my experience, moose spawns seem random. For example, I have stayed in CH for about 30 in-game days and no moose. On the other hand, I have had one already there when I showed up. Also, In BI, I killed a moose and two in-game days later, it was back.

I will say that they are quite rare, more so than bears. Also, keep in mind that some locations are not guaranteed spawns. For example, one will only appear near Unnamed Pond if you see the moose rubbings on trees. I think the one near Trapper's is guaranteed although I have encountered it no more than three times in hundreds of hours of play time.

As for your final question, some people say that hanging around the spawn area all the time prevents them from spawning. I can't say for sure as I have not personally experienced. I tend to roam maps all the time, though, so I don't usually hang around any where.

ETA: I have found the one in CH to be the most reliable to spawn, even if it takes a while. Also, Ash Canyon moose spawns seem a bit more regular, but that might be a false impression since I have spent much less time there than on other maps.

i played stalker for more than 60 days and only found 1 moose. Stalker settings are very high moose spawn. Its that rare. You could walk for weeks and never found him. So if your settings is medium chances are you will meet him after walking for 100 days.

From my experience, moose spawn's location and time seems totally random. While bear can be predicted as they usually spawns near their den, and within every region (except Ravine) at least there is one bear spawning.

And also, i've encountered moose spawned on a bridge after lighthouse in desolation point region with no trees near it. That was really scary.

My favourite spot is if the moose spawn is in the Milton Basin. Plenty of stuff to do while you wait for an appearance. 2nd spot is TWM. I've logged over 4,000 hrs and have never seeen a moose in CH

My favorite place for moose spawn is at Trappers. for me easy kill for both moose and a bear.

That one in Milton basin once gave a real fight. took me maybe 6-7 arrows to kill him and few jumps from rocks :D

In CH I often see him near the garage. And rarest one, in my opinion, is in DP. saw him just once and that one broke my ribs.

Marsh Ridge in FM is my favourite spot for moose hunting. With no predators in the area, you have the whole area to yourself in hunting the moose. Can't say no to the birch bark spawn there too!

In terms of hunting one, I would prefer to base out of a location with multiple nearby moose spawns.

The FM/Milton Basin vicinity is one, although there's also a wolf who likes to hang out on the side by Milton Basin.

The TWM Hut is another, although again there can also be wolves around.

Bears are relatively fixed spawns in the game, if left alone, they would always be there.

Moose seems to migrate across regions. No way for me to know for sure but I think that the game spawns a moose randomly in a spawn location based on the whole world map. Excepting Bleak Inlet where the moose is the sole big game animal on the west side so it spawns (and migrates in a limited number of areas of that region), the game has 10 or 11 regions to choose from so it can be a long (or short) wait for it to reappear.

Moose don't migrate. They have set areas where they spawn, approx two per map, and they stay to these areas (with the torn bark)

TWM - in between the entrance and the Hut, and then in between the Hut and the Wing
AC - bottom of the triple-rope climb leading up to Mining Camp, and the Bitter Marsh forest
PV - Pensive Pond area, and the abandoned cabin area with the birch forest (near the Barn)
ML - right outside of Trapper's, and right outside the Dam
DP - only one: the bridge (with the waterfall near Matt's Truck)
etc.
