Crafting scrap tools without need of a forge might be a nice addition as well.
Here's hoping :)
Thank you

I had trouble with the radio which is a shame. If the game crashes just verify the install folder. I added all the ones I fancied and tested them out and all work except the radio, I need heavy metal. Looking forward to 1000's more hours with my fox to accompany me.
The reason why is when they released updates the modded game was broken. This brought out many complaints from those using mods about their game is broken and demanded Hinterland fix it for them. Hinterland, being a small studio doesn't have the resources to handle the complaints nor find a fix decided to ban them and any discussion about them altogether.
In other words, it's not the game update that breaks the mods, it's the mods that break the updated game.

IIRC, recently they have decided that asking about mods is a legitimate question as long as those asking understand what is happening and why.
Sorry, Wasn't trying to imply anything there & wanted to double check. Seeing how there's no rule about it and also no reasoning posted from a moderator. I could come up with several reasons why they'd want to lock down things around modding but the avoiding complaints part doesn't add up since that is just fuel to the fire in most cases.
Yep, totally is. Years later still zero signs of it. Just saying, all this doesn't have a good look from players who are going through update logs and reviews, deciding whether to give the game another shot or not. That's what led me here.
After searching here in the TLD Steam discussions and on Hinterland's own forum https://hinterlandforums.com/forums/ for the last 4 hours this is what I have found on Hinterland's stance about mods.
The earliest post I found on how Hinterland views mods was July 2018 by IFIYGD in the following thread, post #11. https://steamcommunity.com/app/305620/discussions/0/1739964683500547663/
The hinterland community replied to the same thread in post #19.
Here's the largest comment I could find from Hinterland;
Quote:
We've previously said that working on a system of mod support is something that is a goal for the team. What we would like to have is a way for modders to create mods, and share them and an easy way for players to install them while knowing that installing a mod will not adversely affect their game, or system. That is something we need to figure out on our end, how we want that system to work and our goals with it.
So we agree that allowing players to mod their own games is a goal, at this point without official mod support we are unable to offer any form of technical support on modded games. Thus installing a mod risks not only breaking your game in some way, but also won't get support from our team to fix it. While there are people who know enough to be able to break their game and fix it on their own, a large percentage of players don't have that sort of technical skill.
Thus we do not support, or promote, existing mods on our channels. People have created mods for The Long Dark, we don't stop them from doing that but we don't allow for them to be promoted here. Also another issue is the game is still under active development, and so we may update the game in some way that breaks existing mods without intending to. This has happened in the past.
So we understand that people are anxious to see mods, but we ask everyone to be patient with us while we work things out.

"we do discourage their use and request that they not be shared in our official communities"
Time surely does fly when your having fun.
If they don't want links shared then fine, I thought a warning would've been enough especially with a user who seems optimistic about the game. They really should add it to rules and guidelines IMO https://steamcommunity.com/app/305620/discussions/0/613936673552037886/
