I have a question regarding this and I dont want to start a new topic for that. So, I had to reinstall my system few months ago and I lost all my saves of course. Will I be able to play the episode 4? Or I will have to play it all over again? Does anyone know?

Your saves should still exist in a backup, either offline if you did it yourself or online in Steam Cloud, which I think is enabled by default for this game.

That aside, episode 3 could be played without having played 1+2 before, so I expect the same will be true for episode 4. But I don't know for sure.

Time for my yearly Wintermute playthrough!

Thank you Hinterland :coffeeTLD:

Agree, gonna start up a fresh Wintermute playthru since it's been 2 years, play it on the "hardest" difficulty this time (which I think is only equivalent to like Stalker). Might not even jump into Ep 4 on the day it launches as a result, but I know that I have a bit of time before Blackrock Penitentiary is added to Survival, so I'm not worried.

I am really curious though, will there be some sort of Halloween event this year? Even 4DON?
Cool

I replayed the first three episodes earlier this year, this time with a view to getting Will and Astrid ready for the final two episodes, and setting them up with the best gear and supplies I could find. I doubt Will will get to hang onto his gear for long but worth a try to go into the next episode strong.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I'm waiting for all 5 episodes to be completed before playing them. Were they intended to be the tutorial for the game?

Wintermute was intended to be THE game, and it includes many tutorial elements, so it can be used as tutorial by new players.

However, some survival mode mechanics are not present in the first episode of Wintermute, so this tutorial aspect is probably less useful for advanced or even intermediate players. And on the flip side, some advanced players seem to feel Wintermute is kind of boring cause of the tutorial elements. (Trying to be a bit vague in order to avoid spoilers here.)

Well, I didnt make aby backup unfortunatelly. And as for the Steam cloud, they added this option exactly 1 week after my reinstall :(

what about ep5 we have to wait 2 years for it now
RabbitRidge Oct 5, 2021 @ 12:21am
Wow, over 7 years from "The game" release and it's still not finished yet (maybe I am crazy).

Interesting, that explains the difference from what I've seen posted and the actual experience I've had. But 7 years and episode 4 still hasn't been released yet?
