or do we have an option to no longer need fire starters (just like tinder is option when fire starting skill is at level 3)
In rl you have a lot more options for making fire, tinder is pretty easy to get in most forests of the world, if not torn up bark , feathers, sticks, dry grass, pine needles, punk wood, cattail both leaves and fluff and cotton if you're fortunate to have that.
Even in harsh winters you are likely to find atleast one type.
Fire starters can be pistons, flint and steel, bow drill, magnesium block fire starter, spark-lite, blastmatch, firesteel.
I think they should start implenting these things instead of the damn one time playthrough story, i want to see survival completely independent of materials and only using natural resources to survive, this is the future of this game.
Why not implement friction fires instead of having to look for flares and matches, it's not realistic in any way and i play this game mostly for realism.
i want to see this happening on interloper, it's better to necro than to make tons of new threads.
And it is amazing how Google searches can find the oldest threads on a subject on a Steam forum, to keep necromancers happy.
The firestrikers are friction type fire starters as well as matches. Wood matches, also known as strike-anywhere matches can be lit by striking against a brick, concrete, stone, side of a stove, rusty iron, the zipper of your fly or jacket, denim jeans or dried leather.
IRL, it's hard to find a good strike-anywhere match, thanks to homeland security telling manufacturers they had to quit making matches with phosphorous on the tip of the head.
