*spoilers* HRV Ice Cave question

I've been slowly exploring HRV with my past few Loper survivors (at first without a map, what a maze). I have been through the Ice Caves a few times, knowing that there is a chance there will be a wolf (but not always), and I had never run into it until today.

So there are two ice caves, the one that runs down the left side of the map (including the exit through the falls), and the one that is more in the middle of the map. I have been in the second cave more often for some reason, and never run into the wolf, so I thought he might be in the waterfall cave.

But... Today I almost got jumped in the second/middle cave! Good thing I had a torch out or I'm sure it would have pounced. As it was, I was able to back off and get a fire down. So my question is, if it does spawn, can it spawn in either cave? Or is it always in the non-waterfall cave and I have just been lucky?

About Steve's comment (big spoiler if you haven't looked at an HRV map): Aren't there two possible signal fire locations, and the upper exits of each cave (after climbing the rope in either cave) lead to the possible signal fires?

Right. I guess I'm a bit biased because I usually get the one near the wolf cave

Mmm, I hear, but not see - since I get out, the wolf when I enter the ice cave in the plateau above the track for exit cave for Milton, with the alternative* Signal of Fire location, let's say the left cave system.

* Considering that Signal of Fire spawn for first time - when HVR was added, in the right side, near Monolith Lake.
