Can't sleep in cave?

I can't find any spot to place down the bed roll, everything is red!

Hard to help without knowing what cave. Are you trying to put it down in a narrow corridor, or are you in one of the open holed big round caves? Trying to find a spot in the narrows is extremely hard, but can be done in places, I have done it, the big caves should be no problem. If you are in a big cave, and it's not working then maybe it's a rare bug?

you just need to keep rotating the bed until it goes green

And since the last update your range has been narrowed down.
In earlier Versions one was able to place things far away but now it was narrowed down to just about 10 feet in a circle around you or something in that area.
So try placing it directly in front of you and walk around...maybe that works.

I guess the lesson to learn here is to place the bedroll first, THEN start a fire and put all your fuel into it...
