The only practical use I've gotten out of them is marking lines from fishing huts so I can easily get back in blizzards.
iv spent too many nights in the lake cabins instead of the lodge
I suppose that, when I ever visit Hushed River Valley, I would use spray marks for there to save on building campfires, except for critical locations, and having to carry things that weigh me down and/or will be swept up in another Lost and Found event.
* wonder if you can spray paint Methuselah... ,(story mode)
would he show paint at his campfires 2 & 3, then?
- Mark rocks and trees on maps that I don´t know too much to find my way back home;
- When there´s a lot of houses (like in milton) I mark the doors of the houses I already looted;
- I spray houses that I may want to use as a secondary base;
- If I need to drop some decent loot behind like a spare rifle or nice clothing I mark the house door too (I also used the in game notes for that... like extra whetstone at Orca MT... after months playing I wouldn´t never remember)
- When I see a bear or I´m attacked suddenly by a wolf near a car or a house I paint a danger sign on it;
But I only carry one can with me, if I don´t have it I don´t get desperated... and when I´m gonna loot a big place like the Dam, I only pick the sprays if I have plenty of space to carry... if not I just leave´em there...
The polaroids hidden around the island really help map large areas at a time. Higher elevations help a lot now too. I find myself always looking for the next big hill to climb and it has been pretty satisfying.
As for the spray paint, I have used them to mark my bases (storage symbol), bear spawns (danger symbol), and moose spawns (hunting area symbol). It isn't really "necessary" since I have been using most of these bases for a long time now and know them by memory. The bear and moose spawns can be helpful though since those change between saves.
same for rock caches
