Damage: Revolver and Rifle
I can't find any stats on this.
Whats the difference between these weapons? I imagine if I put a bullet into a mooses head he would die from any weapon. Does the revolver do less damage than the rifle though?

P.S. Ammo restriction aside, is there any erason why I would want to use a bow instead of a gun?

The rifle is a lot more accurate at long range and does a lot more damage. A rifle will take down a moose in 2-3 shots while a revolver generally takes as many as 10. Moose are unique in the fact that they don't bleed out, you have to take him down by actually shooting him. However for all other animals you can just put one shot of your choice and it will bleed out, but it will take a lot longer with the revolver. Revolver is generally meant as a defense from wolves and the rifle is a long range hunting tool. I would honestly change to the bow as soon as possible. It is pretty hard to make a bow and arrows, but saving 3 kilos is really worth it in the long run. It is the best improvement I have made to my TLD life ever.

you gotta try the bow man, it's awesome, the damage is incredible,,
i actually forgot how it feel using rifle/revolver, cuz i play on interloper pretty much everytime i play TLD and that's the only ranged weapon you can rely on interloper,
i heard revolver is good for struggling wolf tho, cuz u can insta kill it,
idk never tried it myself

The animal model basically boils down to critical hits which means the animal dies on the spot and bleeding wounds, leaves a trail of blood drops, which means the animal will die once it bleeds out (the bleed timer expires). If it does not leave a blood trail, even if there was a spurt of blood, it is probably not going to bleed out and die.

The rifle, revolver, and bow is quite adequate to kill any animal in the game with one shot/arrow, but that will be only a percentage chance. The effectiveness or lack thereof for any of those weapons is dependent on skill of use, where the animal is hit, and, in particular, the infamous RNG.

A player may be lucky enough to drop every bear, moose, and deer he fired at with one shot/arrow or expend a lot of ammunition/arrows for each kill (instant or bleed out) or some combination of both events.

Intuitively we might assume the revolver is a less capable firearm than the rifle. In reality, we don't really know. I don't think the developers would be interested in that fine a detail so the firearms are probably relatively equivalent in target effects. Personal anecdotes based on experience will always vary even if someone makes a major effort to come up with some kind of systematic result from comparatively extensive tests.

I've one-shotted deer and wolves with both pistol and rifle. Haven't tried pistol on bears or moose yet, though.

Revolver always does the same amount of damage, but some people and animals simply have a higher HP.

Theodore Roosevelt and Andrew Jackson both walked off a gunshot to the chest, and Otto von Bismarck tanked 5 shots without major ill effects. These guys had a very high HP value.

Someone with lower HP like Jesse James would stay wounded for weeks after a single shot.
