My favourite trick is that cooked teas are lighter than water, so I travel with lots of teas and very little water.
A pot is heavy, I try not to travel with one. 2 cans is usually enough.
You don't need a can opener if you have a knife. If you have a knife and hacksaw, you probably don't need a hatchet.
The pry bar is up to personal preference. On loper, I find most locked lockers are empty, so I've just stopped carrying a pry bar around. Instead I carry a hammer. Great anti wolf weapon.
Coal is the best firewood. And a few sticks to start fires
I heard theres some trickery involving torches, but how do you use them really? I have 2 unlit ones but you need matches to light them again?
Also how do you make that tea? You just put the tea in a can at a fire and it cooks up water?
Sorry for 1 more dumb question, how do you get well fed buff? I never saw 35kg weight limit and I dont try to starve myself when possible?
Books are great for fire starting but heavy. In the early game I'll carry a few but I stop carrying them by midgame.
Torches are also wolf repellent. They often will hold ground if you have a lit torch, and once you get a fire started with the torch, you can throw it at them.
At higher difficulty you often have to make a longer fire than you need because you want a HOT fire. Then once you are warm and ready to move on, you grab the torches to store the leftover fire duration.
