Loot despawn after alt f4
So I've been playing a lot of interloper lately and have been abusing the alt f4 buttons a bit to avoid certain mistakes, bear attacks etc and i've come across this "bug?" where if I alt f4 inside of a building it can despawn loot that was previously there when i get back into the game.

Example given:
1.
I was climbing down TWM and went into the abandoned preppers cache and looted it, among the loot was a stim pack that was in one of the containers. For some reason I can't remember I closed down the game with an alt f4 and when I got back into the game the stim pack was no longer in the container, nor in my inventory.

2.
I was looting the hydro carter dam and messed up with lighting my torch and wasted a bunch of matches so I alt f4´d. After I restarted a soda was missing from the loot I had previously gotten, from one of the desks.

So I want to know if any of you guys have had similar issues? I've been trying to trigger it with other items, but static spawns and clothing seems unaffected.
Is this a bug or a feature to punish savescumming?
Thanks!

Like any software it can't be writing saves all the time. Alt+F4 does abruptly stop processing so the resulting condition will be unpredictable.

Hmm, I'm questioning if that's possible though. Since the game saves automatically when you enter a building, it should in my mind not affect the items inside since the items would already have spawned in and be saved properly, though I do not know completely how the loot tables with in TLD.

My potential issue with this is though, if this could affect normal entering and exiting of the game, because if that was the case then people could be loosing out on a lot of loot and never know about it. But that seems very unlikely.

However, even if it just affects abrupt exiting of the game and not just alt f4 but crashes etc, then isn't it possible that it could despawn items on the larger outdoor maps aswell? Which if it was true would be resulting in a big loss of items all over, especially for someone like me that abuses the savefiles.

I use Alt+F4 a lot to exit the game every time i want to stop and i have never noticed even a single item dissapear, so i have to ask you: Are you completely sure the game finished saving before you alt+f4'ed? Also, when reloading the game it should be back at the state it was when it saved, if you enter a building, drop something and alt+f4: that dropped item will obviously not be where you dropped it but in your inventory.

faced the same issue right now. Yesterday I closed the game with normal way (not with Alt+f4). My last save was in hidden bunker. I remember that inside was a lot of stuff, gun, clothes, food, but today when I came back to the game today inside is nothing. Even in locked lockers. If I restart the game than in one of the lockers I can find something (like pants) but no food or something. in next restart can be nothing at all. Is it a bug?

I have a thread about missing items ("Leave Something Here in the Snow"). I think Hinterland may be doing magic with an upcoming update. I could be wrong though....

Maybe not 'leave something there in the snow'? That would solve the problem.

Sorry, couldn't resist it anymore, lol, 4 hours was my limit

My problem will be solved by finding the loot box or simply starting another run.

Your problem is much deeper.

My problem?

This has been a feature since release I suspect to probably mitigate save scumming for better gear. When entering a building for the first time I've found there's usually 2-3 loot combinations you can get from containers and so to avoid this it's better off looting everything first time around and exiting and reentering the building a second time or pass time/sleep to initiate a perma save to lock in the items in your inventory. There can be a slight variation and especially reduction in containers of loot and quality/weight when entering that building again from a previous save/alt f4/tabbed and hard close exit before entering the building a 'second' time for the first time if you get what I mean. It's sometimes possible to revert the original loot spawn by entering a different building for the first time/initiating a non related camp save and and going back to your intended pre save building, although that's a lot of wasted work for just a soda, speaking from experience, hehe.

I see no issue if you entrance the building and the loot generated one time only even you exit the game, reenter and so on - loot shall be the same in same place in same run. it shouldn't generate new loot everytime you enter the game in same run. Otherwise kind strange, no? something shall be changed between the runs and it's ok and it's logic. because it seems I'm not able to exit the game whenever I want and keep the loot - I need to entrance the building, to loot everything, to reenter and save progress and only after that to exit the game - I do not like it so much.
