Parasites in cooked wolf/bear meat? +Killing a bear?
Hello!

I know before I was able to kill a bear, one shot if I aimed correctly(the head or heart/lung area), now no matter where I shoot. He doesn't die. Is it still possible to kill a bear with a rifle one shot? Or only possible with a bow and arrow?

Also, everytime I kill a wolf or bear and cook its meat, it has parasites. I know its suppose to be realistic o_o but dayum, talk about hard to survive XD Is this just me or is there a way to get the meat uninfected?

It is still possible to one-shot a bear with either weapon, it's just not easy.

Parasites... You're going to have to manage that until you hit cooking skill 5, then you're good. The good news is, if you contract parasites, during the ten days you're infected and treating it, you can eat all the predator meat you want without worry.

Depends in where you aim your fatique and rifle skill or bow skill

You can suppliment your diet with predator meat by only eating one piece of predator meat per 24 hour period. If you eat one piece, you only get a 1% parasite risk, which is pretty acceptable. And if that happens to be bear meat, hypothetically you could survive entirely on bear meat alone by letting yourself starve all day and just eating that one bear steak before bed.

As for killing bears, yes it's possible. I've managed to one-shot a bear with a bow on several occasions. Still, I recommend bear hunting strategically. Be in or near a place where a charging bear can't reach you, such as a fenced in porch, or near a car. Then shoot the bear. If it charges, run to safety, then pass time so that the bear bleeds out fast.

Thank you everyone! Wasn't sure if I was missing something or something - good to know its gone at level 5 cooking XD

My rifle skill is still low, so ;w; I aim usually at the head or heart/lung area.

Thanks ajb! I always make sure I can get away or inside an area. He died about 6hr later, so thats good XD Now gonna head back to the Farmstead house, bring some fuel(coal, reclaimed wood I got), and just take everything he has XD Or a majorly.

Also for note: Parasites can only be contracted in the Stalker and Interloper experience modes. You will never have a risk of parasites in any other mode (with the exception of challenge modes, I have no idea about those ones).

Hitting bears in the head is actually easy. Getting random dice to roll your way when there's only a 20% chance of a head shot turning into a kill shot is not. Do you feel lucky? Because thats what it takes.

The first time I played after they introduced parasites, I got them from a 2% risk from the first peice of meat I ate. I then had to use 20 antibiotics (the entire map supply + prepper cache) to get rid of them.
