Is it safe to sleep in a cave (no bears in region) without a fire? *CabinFever *Interloper (low on Matches)
Having big trouble with Cabin fever on Interloper mode day 90, and was wondering can i sleep in a cave near ( Western access Mystery lake ), there is no bear in that region, cave is deep and warm like in a Cabin and i dont want to start a fire since im kinda very low on matches...? I mean can i get attacked by wolf or a bear while i sleep in a cave if they do not exist in that region, and i dont have a fire nearby?

I had all the best non-craftable clothes along with the deer boots and couldnt remain above freezing 90pc of the time in a cave. having said that with the bear bedroll and all the deer rabbit clothes it might be ok. I've never been attacked by wolf or bear in a cave. I don think there is a bear cave on ML???

I have never tried sleeping in a cave to avoid cabin fever but personally I would not risk something like that in interloper. Nvr been attacked by any wolves/bear in a cave in any of my runs so the only thing you shld worry abt is the cold. I personally am too afraid to live outdoors without a running fire so at least have a decent amount of wood on standby in the event it gets too cold and you need a fire.

At the very back of caves you'll see that it's much warmer there, although on Interloper this might be a tough call, as the weather is so punishing. Just be sure to check the temperature and not sleep in more than 1 or 2 hour shifts. Good luck!

It is very warm at the very back of cave and i have best crafted clothes, so am not affraid from a cold, i am afraid from a wolf or a bear attack while i sleep since i plan not to start a fire, if it is possible for them to attack me in a (non bear) cave :) tnx for reply :)

No direct experience but I recall seeing vids where a bear might walk up to a cave entrance then turn away. It is possible that may also hold true for wolves. This does not apply to a bear cave but the bear tends to sleep near the entrance. If a bear or wolf was in hot pursuit, who knows?

If the cave you are referring to is not Dave's Quiet clearing, I would guess that you're safe (climb a rope then cross a hill or two and then down to a cave) from predators. You'd be in greater danger from temperature than predators there.

Often times even a bearskin bedroll won't help in caves. Sleep in 1hr increments and hope you get lucky with the weather. Otherwise it's time to put one of those precious matches to use.

I was once attacked by a bear while I slept in the cave on Skeeters Ridge. I hadn't lit a fire because I was just sleeping for an hour in the middle of the day, and woke up to find myself being mauled!

I've done it, but I have all the crafted gear. If there is a blizzard, it can't be done without the bearskin bedroll and no fire. Or maybe it can if the temp drop isn't too severe.

But I have never been attacked while sleeping in a cave. Just don't sleep in a bear cave and you're good.
