Am I missing something (interloper)?
Im trying to play Interloper mode cause I like a challenge, but it seems like Im constantly getting spawned a stupid amount away from ANY shelter, and while that would normally be fine If I could make a fire bow or something from what I can scavenge off the snow, I cant, and require some kind of matchs or firestriker that I have to find INDOORS to make a fire, meaning Im ALWAYS freezing, and CANT melt snow, which seems totally impossible. I can catch rabbits and harvest things, but without the ability to get water or cook things, it is really an impossible mode. What am I missing here?

Keep at it. If you do, you will win (eventually). Good Luck.
You could not have given less of an answer.

Just create new profile and wait for best spawn (Pleasant Valley near plane crash).
Learn map and where most important things spawn (matches , hacksaw , hammer)
TWM , HR are worst spawn - if u spawn there , delete dat profile and start new one.

Again, a nonanswer, bordering on "git gud".

He was giving you encouragement and good tips without spoiling anything for you.

You're correct.. your first priority should be fire and water. ML is the most forgiving region for getting started in Loper, if you spawn nearby get to ML asap. Always key item spawns there. Also, if you can't find matches, a firestriker, or a mag glass, you can raid toilets for water.

Get after it! Good luck. :steamhappy::2019clover:
Ok. So theres just no matches. Got it. Game mode broken, ♥♥♥♥ this ♥♥♥♥ I guess.

If u dont know whats is where , do not play Interloper yet. Its very hard at beginning.
pilgrim - easy
voyager - medium
Stalker - hard
Interloper - very hard.
Personally , for me is Interloper main mode.

Yes, excellent game.

People tried to help you here, and you can't even be bothered to say thank you.

Plenty of people survive in Loper with no issues. The problem might be you.

If you don't want to hear the answer, don't ask the question. :steamsalty:

Ok. Thank you for the nonanswers. Ill hit my head on this wall until I figure it out.

try Voyager mode.
U spawn with matches and u can start fire immediately also u can select where u want spawn.
In Interloper u spawn in random place (worst possible) with empty pockets - just recycled can.

Part of the charm of Interloper is learning to adapt to the harsh world. The above users gave good advice without spoiling any of the experience for you, which is imo good answers.

If you don't mind being spoiled, you could load up a map and a loot list to find where all the matches spawn. If you have a specific question you want answered, we could do that too but "What am I missing?" is very broad, which is why you're getting more general answers.

Since you're in Interloper, you can't find guns, bows, axes, or knives. So your #1 priority should be to craft arrowheads, an axe, and a knife. To do this you'll need a Hammer and a Hacksaw, both of which are relatively common, though sometimes the Hammer can be very elusive. You'll definitely want a bedroll, but I wouldn't backtrack for one before getting your bow.

You'll also need a means to light a fire, which you've already discovered. Matches can spawn in all sorts of lootable containers (glove boxes, filing cabinets, desk drawers) but they're also hand placed all over the place in Interloper. Mag lenses and Firestrikers are also great. I think every map has at least one hand placed box of matches, but that's just me going off of memory.

Like pagan says, certain maps aren't great for Interloper newbies to start in. Forlorn Muskeg and Pleasant Valley are great spawns, as you can pass through Mystery Lake (+Milton with a Muskeg spawn) without any backtracking. ML is a treasure trove of valuable tools like the magnifying lens, bedroll, hammer and hacksaw, plus a possible firestriker in a cave. Restart if you get Hushed River Valley unless you know your way around. TWM can work but don't try to summit.

Don't hunker down, don't bother with rabbits right now. Eat before you sleep, sleep for 9-10 hours and survive off of cat tails, they're everywhere. Drink toilet water. You should be able to find some means to make a fire by day 2-3 if you look everywhere in buildings.

You're going to take condition loss traveling in the cold and starving, this is normal.

If you slow down you die.

At least you are clearly telling me to block you, so as to not waste anymore time on you. I usually end with a "Good Luck", but you don't deserve even that.

Guys, it's not that hard. He's asking a simple question; where to find matches. Instead of fooling around, answer him.

I'm not an interloper player, but I can remember a couple match / fire starter spawns. First, the Pleasant Valley farmhouse basement. 100% guarantee match spawn. you'll find it on a shelf in the basement. Mystery Lake's camp office has a good chance to find a mag lens. Mystery Lake dam has a good chance for matches. Quonset hut in CH has a good chance for matches. In FM, Try poacher's camp or the spence homestead. If I spawned in FM, though, I'd just head to ML and go to camp office instead.

This game relies on previous map and item spawn knowledge a lot, especially if you want to be successful at interloper. Genuinely not trying to put you down, but perhaps play the other modes a bit more before giving loper a serious go. I did about 200 hrs on Voyager before changing to loper. It is very easy to die in loper without a lot of experience in the game.

If you want more background information I would suggest the long dark wiki, it has much detailed information. Good luck.

Now that I know the map so well, my favorite random IL spawn is Timberwolf Mountain! Especially part way up. There’s an always spawn bed roll in the middle zone outdoor cave, as well as matches and some wood. Grab a few mushrooms and make some tea for when the water is done. Then hike up to the rope and get to the deer clearing cave! Rest with fire for a lil bit (with your new bedroll) and then get up to the next rope to the shelf, climb through cave, and you’ll make the summit for sure! Then with an unreal amount of loot the rest of your start will be cake.

Is there a guaranteed hacksaw on the mountain?
