Hushed River Valley - How Do I Get Down To the Valley Floor?
I found my way from Mountain Town to HRV, but now I'm stuck up on ledges with sheer drops being the only way I can find down into the actual valley itself. How do I get down there? I don't want to do the goating down the cliffs trick, which would leave be trapped in there if I can't find the proper route in. I've gone in both directions from the entrance and ran into dead ends both ways, just a ledge that eventually dead ends on cliffs with nowhere to go but back.

If you're talking about the 'valley' that leads to the land slide, you can get there by using one of two spots where rope are mounted.
One spot has just one rope to climb down, the other spot is directly from waaay up and you'd have to climb two ropes.
The spot where you just use one rope is near an entrance to an ice cave.
Very difficult to explain how to get there, sry.

There are at least two places that have rope climbs down to the valley bottom. Other than that, just skyrim down, it's easily done if you're careful, similar to coming down TWM from the crashed plane. Be Lucky! :steamhappy:

It might be difficult or impossible to continue the run, but I've found full walk mode down the steepest route is very fast.

But the advice above is probably a better option.

But that's not the point in the question...
He's concerned not about getting down there...but getting back up again after that. ;-)
Bring Coffee and/or a stim and you're good to go.
The ropes are there...you just have to find and climb them and because it is a 'closed area' it won't be hard to find these ropes...sooner or later...

Ropes sound about right from what I saw. Didn't see any ropes or anchor points for them, but my foray to the left was marred by being too overloaded and a brutal wind, and my search to the right was not much better with another infernal blizzard forcing me back to the entrance. I guess I'll have to wait out the weather and drop some extra stuff off at the cave to begin my search for the returnable way down. Thx.

EDIT: Actually, come to think of it, I do remember seeing 1 rope just before the blizzard blinded me, but it was not accessible from the ledge I was on, it came up from a ledge somewhere below and went up to a ledge somewhere above and beyond my reach from the ledge I was following from the entrance.

Sounds like Pensive Vista to me - that's the only place along the valley floor that has a two-rope climb from the valley floor. You probably are between the two rope climb, climb the second rope and you will be out - you should be able to walk down to Monolith Lake from there. Be Lucky! :steamhappy:

Yes, sounds like Pensive Vista, but how the heck should he have gotten to the first ledge without climbing?
There's no way to get there without climbing...exept goating down.
But he didn't do that...yet...did he?
He could be directly up at Pensive Vista...traveling across Monolith Lake.
If that's the case:
Make absolutely sure to have a hatchet with you!
If not, you possibly won't get far... ;-)

@Foxen sounds like he may well be stuck on one of the ledges - those that you step off from the rope to rest on your way up - and you're right he will need a hatchet for the scrub, I was forgetting about that. Be Lucky! :steamhappy:

Sounds like you're stuck on a 'resting' ledge - long rope climbs usually have one. You can reach out for that rope, even though it appears a long way off, you will get the 'climb' message if it's safe for you to do so. Hope this helps! Be Lucky! :steamhappy:

If you can find many falls vista, you are near both a rope up to one of the mysterious fires and a rope down to the valley. This is very available to most of the middle map.

The other route is the double rope down from Pensive Vista, if you are on that ledge you got there by rope or goat, and I wouldn't bet on the goat.
I'm still on the ridges that the cave from ML exits on. I'm guessing there are climbing ropes down I didn't see in the blizzard?

What I found to the left of the cave was a waterfall from above, with a little river area with cattails and rabbits, and a 2nd waterfall going further down and a ledge with an abandoned camp and snow shelter, there was a path leading further in that direction past the river and waterfalls, but i was driven back to the cave by a freezing wind and decided to consolidate the stuff I found at the camp to the cave entrance when I knew I'd need to go back there to warm up anyways. Tried going to the right after I'd warmed back up and went a ways along narrow ledges and about 3 fallen tree bridges, but saw no way down, I think the series of ledges I was travelling along had reached a dead end, but by the time I got there, a blizzard was in full fury and I couldn't see much, nor find any good shelter from the storm. I then ended up stuck in one of those stupid little holes you can fall into but can't get back out of in any direction that just glitch your character out and force a reload.

The long rope climb I saw was a ways over with no path to it and it was mid rope, so probably saw the double rope climb from somewhere half way up one of the climbs. Again, I was too far away to reach it, just saw it through the snow just before the blizzard truly fired up to full raging fury. I'll probably just have to map what I can before the blizzard gets going this time and then wait it out in the cave, and try on a clearer day to find a rope climb down. I assume there will be one somewhere accessible to the entrance from ML.

Ok, I think I know now where you are.
If you went right and found a snow shelter...there should also be a smoking 'woodstack' and that's called 'myterious signal fire'.
And you seem to be in the cave just before that fire, right?
But to get you must have climbed at least one rope...or you've passed through an ice cave.

Or am I missing something?
What difficulty are you playing on?
And if it's not Loper...are there other places with snow shelters to be found in lower difficulties...idk of?
If so:
Did you see a rope while standing on one of those three tree bridges?
That could be a good spot to climb.
Just goat down from that 'bridge' and climb the rope.
There's an entrance to one of the ice cave complexes directly to the right at the top of said rope...and maybe the signal fire I was writing about above.
From there you can easily get to the lonely cave that's next to the fallen tree bridge (that's above you) after leaving the 'entrance cave' from Milton.

But first we have to make sure where the heck you are exactly... ;-)

@Seriously Unserious: Map of HRV, see if you can locate where you are - it may help to find you.

As my last wandering in the blizzard ended in me getting stuck in one of those buggy can't escape trap holes, I'd be back at the entrance cave, where my last save point was.
