I've Been Overlooking Winding River

After you come from PV, there's that nice little cave about halfway to the dam. I've always used it to warm up and occasionally sleep, but never spent a whole lot of time there.

In my current run, I've used it as a mini base of sorts. When I came out of the dam, the wolf patrolling at the base sometimes immediately attacks a rabbit. I rushed down the hill and shot it with my bow, then left the carcus sit without harvesting right away so it wouldn't respawn.

After that, I set up camp in the cave and started stock piling resources. You have rabbit spawns right outside the cave as well as sometimes at the base of the dam. I found some maple saplings, lots of mushrooms, 3 deer carcuses, of course the cat tails, plentiful reclaimed wood in and around the dam, and coal in the cave system to PV.

I've been alternating between spending roughly 24 hours in the Winding River outdoors and the cave to mitigate CF risk, and then I go to the front entry side of the dam and sleep there and utilize the crafting table, then back outside to the cave.

I really like this spot now.

I should also mention that the way this all started was my master plan to stockpile a boatload of reclaimed wood, and transfer it over to the fishing shack in PV at Pensive Pond. That is still my master plan because I utilize that fishing shack a lot when I'm there.

Yes! That's a nice little cave. I use it if I need a stopover from the transition cave to and from PV and ML - really handy if the weather is stinky.

Lately I've been forgetting my tin cans at my campfires along the way to TWM region. Luckily I keep finding more along the way. It would not be good to arrive at the Mountaneer's hut without a way to boil water.
