I remember this old intro from when I first started playing! Brings me back :)

To answer your question, I don't believe you can change that.
This is so sad.

Les fichier musique on un format *.wem, quelqu'un en sait plus sur ce sujet ?

The music files have a *.wem format, does anyone know more about this subject?

You can tell when players started TLD depending on what main menu song they like best.

Any who, every time you start the game, give me a call and I'll hum it for you.

Oh... My favorite... My, god, it's beautiful.

Hard to believe it was so many years ago when I started playing the game (and I still play it ;) ) with the original song that JayXL posted. Honestly I rather enjoy Crossroad Elegy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6Bp1TBC3vI

I'm curious as to why they would put together a game asset like music, and then just replace it? Is it a licensing issue? Surely all the past music can be slipped in elsewhere in game. Anyone have an idea?

I think in the case of the long dark, they just liked to introduce new tracks as they released more game content to keep things fresh.

I believe that - they probably do want to keep it fresh. The main menu is the prominent place to show off the new music. But making the old music inaccessible rather than demoting it to regular in-game music or something else (like a music selection menu) seems like a much better use of IP. I guess I'm more curious about the decision rather than annoyed or upset

Yeah it is too bad it's just "gone" from the game in its current state.

Yes, the new music has not any of the feeling of wintermute. Wintermute is the perfect theme for this game.
+1

Thank you all for posting these videos. Maybe some day in the future we will have a 'randomize intro' or some other option to choose, because they are all so good.

Nothing beats "The Lion's Roar" by First Aid Kit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4_h8GyIWkM . The way that the cut-scene with the wolves changes on the drum beat is pretty good for a video game cinematic. When I first got to Chapter Two, I knew that I had heard this song before so I looked through my overly-bloated music collection and found the track. I have played this several times while driving through the desert with nothing in my field of view except mountains. Those are the moments that help you understand how someone who primarily listens to rock could get into old-school folk-country. That's what makes for good production... when you seek out the experience again after it is over.

Another vote for wintermute theme for me - probably because it's when i first started playing, but it's so atmospheric and emotive, I do miss that it's gone.

In the Steam version, the song with that name isn't the right one, "Theme for the Long Dark" is supposed to be the right name, but on the album it's another song, did they change it or is it a naming bug? I didn't find this one on steam album 1.

OOHhhh thank you! That's right, I found it. I can hear this art there now, with the right names. It's a problem with the Steam album or Steam itself, or how the devs organized it on Steam. Thank you again.
