Do Canadians eat tuna?
In the U.S.; at least the Eastern Seaboard and midwest, dontchaknow; we definitely eat a lot more canned tuna than we do canned sardines. However, in The Long Dark (still waiting for the darkness) the Canucks have tiny tins of sardines laying everywhere, but not a drop of light chunk tuna in water or solid albacore in oil to be found...
Is tuna not a popular canned fish in Canadia?

It's available, though it's not really a west-coast fish like salmon is.

Same in Russia. Also northern country. A lot of sardines and tune is not popular. There's canned tune, but really not popular. And tune it's cheap in Ru. Which means that people prefer some other types of fish and therefore stores lower the prices to high up demands. We love salmon, yes, as Goth Skunk pointed for canadians. Salmon is the most expensive canned fish in Ru. Most popular. Also saury fish is very popular. Also in Ru herring is extremely popular. But unlike salmon we don’t fry or boil herring, mostly salted, sometimes smoked.

I did discover that New Brunswick is home to one of the world's largest sardine canneries, so maybe that's why the devs went w/ them, rather than tuna. :cleanseal:
Makes sense. Local traditions and cuisine are shaped around what foods are most readily available.

Canned tuna is insanely cheap in the U.S. Sometimes as low as $0.59 for a can. It has very few calories per serving while still being rich in nutrients, which adds to the popularity among fat Americans in temperate environments. Sardines are a much more oily and fat-rich fish, so I guess it makes sense that they're popular among peoples living closer to the Arctic Circle.

Many Canadians eat both, but I'd say tuna is probably more popular. My credentials - a Canadian who eats both. :)
