Birch Bark Tea?
Does anyone have any idea how many calories an actual birch bark tea would have if made irl?

I've read briefly that bark is somewhere around 600 calories a pound but I find that hard to believe, any experianced people who've tried this before? Would it be a practical way to get some calories in your system? Or is it too much trouble just for some flavored water?

Looks like Amazon, Walmart, Sears, Zooscape etc. sell birch bark tea, but none of them mention anything about how much calories does it contain per 1 teabag and there's all kind of other articles available (herb-sites etc) but no info on calories for Birch Bark Tea.

So, not much of a help, what comes to answering Your question, but this was a good and very informative over-all post on Birch Bark Tea (posted by TheEldritchGod)

According to Nordic food labs, birch phloem and cambium ground into flour has 1000-1200 calories per kg. So I'm imagining the tea is somewhere around 200-300. Assuming you're using 250 grams of tea mix.

As a rule, unsweetened teas (black or herbal) have almost no calories. I see no reason to think BB tea would be any different. I'm seeing between 0-2 cals for coffee and teas.

I'm assuming that if you place the ground bark flour in there and didnt take it out like you would in a tea that it would still contain the caloric content, but I'm not entirely sure of that either.

You could also theoretically make a bread out of it or do anything else like you would with a normal flour, although it wouldnt be fluffy because of the lack of yeast.

I've heard it tastes like wintergreen, the gum.
