Reishi Mushroom help

I can't make the tea. I understand I have to prepare the mushrooms first as I would the rosehips but when I go into my crafting menu it doesn't show up as a choice. I've got 5 in my back pack. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong.... (I'm in story mode by the way)

You probably have to find the appropriate skill book to get the recipe

There is no need to make tea anyways. Plenty of man made stuff everywhere

Darn it. I'm on the edge of death and needed antibiotics but I've looted everywhere within walking distance and no joy - had the mushrooms so thought I could make a tea to save my life.

I don't recall books for mushrooms and rosehips... but I'm also playing sandbox and I could be getting those mixed up.

Are there differences on difficulty levels?

The story mode lets you do things as it progresses. In sandbox you have the necessary skills at a low level. If you can't prepare reishi mushrooms, then you're not ready for it yet, young padawan. Like in the beginning with the rose hips, you can't gather them just yet - but then it says "You don't need these right now" or something of the sort.

Preparing is in the craft menu, then cook menu to make the tea. Water is (duh) needed.

In story mode I'm afraid you do need to find the right book to learn the recipe to make stuff with the plants (mushrooms, berries, moss)

In Survival you don't need to find the recipes.

If you're playing Storymode and you can prepare rosehips it's a bug if you can't also prepare shrooms. It's the same book that activates both!
