Personally, I'm partial to the small cabin up the hill from the fishing camp, but staying in the fishing camp probably would make more sense.
seems like a good place to move all my stuff
Jackrabbit is probably the nicest but lacks a workbench and stove. You'll have to walk and spend the day at fishing village or Quonset to use the workbench and make campfires to cook/boil (which helps with cabin fever but a pain with wind and storms). Otherwise its a nice, safe location with rabbits, fishing, and a short walk away from deer, wolf, and bear hunting. And good visibility being on a hill overlooking the ice. Probably my top choice.
Fishing village lacks indoor fire and has a bear that occasionally walks right through it. Not a huge deal if you are paying attention, but I like a safe zone around my home to save me from any unexpected surprises.
Misanthrope is similar to Jackrabbit, but has more hostile wildlife nearby. A bear and wolf can spawn close to it.
And you know the downside to the gas station. An otherwise great option surrounded by wolves.
For me on Loper, I prefer the fishing village. The largest risks in Loper are wolves and cold. The fishing camp is void of wolves, and the bear coming through from time to time is just a great opportunity for a lot of meat, guts, and a very important hide. As long as you crouch when you leave the cabin and listen for any nearby bear, you will be safe. Lots of deer available.
Frankly, after 250 days it's too cold to craft much outside, so when I make my monthly trip to the Cinder Hills mine i use the bench there for any big ticket items.
But things are close enough together that you can rotate between places
after 3 consecutive wolf attacks im a bit scared because on this picuture is my blood and its all leading to the door
But Fishing Camp bench is OK if you use some sticks and coal for warm-up, just assure that bear are in "vacaciones" days.
