2nd moose hide cured. what to do?
So, i finally got a 2nd moose hide cured.
It went kinda quick as I had to heal broken ribs, so all that bed rest make the curing seem to go by really fast, also, made good use of all the meat the guy dropped lol.

I am not sure if the game even lets you equip a 2nd satchel, and with the auto save system, dont wanna craft it unless I konw i can actually use it.
But I have a bear skin coat, and 2 wolf skin coats already, so I am not sure if a moose hide cloak is worth it, I know the 2nd satchel is my desire, so if anyone knows if you can wear 2, that would be great to know before crafting it.

As far as I heard, you can equip one satchel though I have never tested that by having a second satchel. I had thought that to mend the satchel I'd have to use a moose hide, so I was concerned about that, but found that you can use cured leather. I do know (as I play in Pilgrim, the easy mode) that even if I had enough moose hides, I'd never make the moose jacket. For my circumstances, it is currently not worth the effort. If, for any reason, I were to lose my satchel, I'd want the capacity to craft it again, without having to go hunt a moose - not because it won't be somewhere in the world, but having to find it can be a pain.

I don't equip my satchel constantly because I'd rather not wear it out, but when I am in a sandbox where I don't have one, I really want it. It is nice to have.

Of course, YMMV.

No second satchel can be used, but a Moose Cloak is the strongest craftable protection from wildlife you can get.

If you're playing on the deadlier modes, virtually all runs end - sooner or later - from or in combination with an encounter with a wolf that turns out worse than anticipated. So that extra 6% is worth thinking about.

I i did a search before my post, but looked again after, on the 3rd page of results I found somoene say you cant.

THe moose might actually be ok, cause it has better sprint than the bear, but more armor, just not as warm. but the 2.5C you lose is ok for the armor you gain and the sprint.

Not sure if the rng fear effect you would lose from the bear is enough to offset the choice.
Satchels are worn in the accessories slot, but only one satchel can be worn at a time. The satchel provides no normal clothing bonuses.

Like other clothing articles, the satchel is vulnerable to damage during a struggle.

Dont craft another one as you can only wear one satchel at a time

Bears are easy enough to just avoid. Depends on player's preferences, but for long recon or entering unknown areas, the moose hide cloack, if available, is a must for me. Its waterproof and windproof qualities are paramount when dealing with the weather variables. The armor is also nice when dealing with wildlife unknowns. And it is lighter than the bear coat.

Personally (with only one exception so far) I don't craft bear coats, prefer to save the materials and keep the bedroll in good shape. The wolf coats are a good choice in the beginning, because the wolf pelts are available in most modes, and the probability to be ambushed by them is also fairly high in most modes. However, if/once I found a moose...

It is vulnerable to damage in struggles, blizzards and degrades just like other clothing but it is VERY sturdy item, degrading very slowly and is easy to repair since you only need one cured leather to repair it. I doubt you will ever need another satchel.

Edit: I'm talking about satchel, not cloak.

Make a Cloak, if latter find this too heavy for their benefits can harvest and make a Satchel with same hide. But not the inverse.

This.

You can harvest the cloak to get a moose hide back, and you can either make the satchel with this, or essentially make an everlasting cloak.

Go for the cloak, Imo it's one of the best clothing items in the game. Fair warmth, mobility, protection and water proofing. Wear this with a wolf skin. The bear cloak imo isn't worth it at all. It's big and heavy. sure it's warm, but unless you plan on staying in one of the colder regions on a high difficulty, the bear coat isn't worth it.

The cloak is simply awesome. 90% waterproof is OPAF.
