custom game code
Apologies if this topic has been addressed, but has anyone "decoded" the custom games code so that it's known what game setting each position represents, and what the possible values are in each position? For example, i have a game with a code of 89l1Z-UkVZ-GBpq-MClu-rgAA, but have no idea what game setting each character represents.

Why do you need to know that?
You can see the settings before starting the game...

Geeks like to know weird things like this sometimes. Just to know them. Even if it serves no "useful" purpose to anyone else's mind. No other reason is needed. Same reaqson some mechanics like to know what every letter and number in a vehicle's serial number stands for, from any manufacturer, even if they will never work on 805 of the brands of vehicles made in the world. The serial numbers can be decoded, and they enjoy knowing how to do it.

OP- I have not heard of anyone decoding the share codes yet, on the online forums, here, or any socail media outlet that has a large TLD fan group. You could try asking Raph in the Milton Mailbag Questions thread, to explain a bit how the codes work. But, honestly, I would not expect him or any other Hinterland dev to go into detail about it. It might be boring for many people, and I have a feeling it will not be as simpleto explain as you or I may hope, with only 57 settings revealed in the Custom Settings Toolbox. We have no idea how many other settings we cannot see or touch might be in that code.

It is a interesting question. Honestly, I hate reddit, and find it to be the most toxic social media platfom besides the 4 one, but lots of Modders hang out there, and they would be the group of folks I would expect to have dug into the share codes, even if it serves no real useful purpose for making unsupported mods. Modders tend to be very curious folks, who would enjoy knowing little details like this.Just... keep the Steam and Hinterland forum rules here and online in mind if you do get an answer. It might be best shared privately with other interested folks, rather than out in the open.

Do you really need to answer all questions...even if you're not the person who was asked!??
I do know why some people want to know some weird thinks...but I asked the OP...not you!
Maybe he/she had other reasons for asking...not the ones YOU assumed...

Do you really not understand how public discussion forums work? :)
I assumed nothing. I gave my opinion, based on my POV. Because... it uis a public forum, and that's how they work.

You do know no one forces you to read any comments I make, right? And if they do, you need to find a way to call 911 without them knowing...

Have a lovely day honey. Keep those people away from your Wheaties. :)

(EDIT- and guess what, the OP can still answer. My response in no way stops them from doing that.)
:)
