Snow shelter in blizzard

So do snow shelters get destroyed during a blizzard? I had just enough stuff to build one and I passed time for an hour before canceling to check if my health would go down while resting. Then I couldn't move so I reloaded the save; now my shelter's nowhere to be seen and I'm pretty much screwed.

This is confusing. Your health only goes down from red stat bars or outright condition loss from an attack or fall.

So when you entered the shelter, your primary concern I imagine was Freezing---red temp bar. I suppose depending on clothes/Day/mode of play it is possible for a snow shelter to keep you warm by itself during a blizzard, but that is unlikely.

And by unlikely I mean me waking up tomorrow and my neighbor deciding to give me a million dollars unlikely. Possible, but...

But if you passed time, esc out before 1h/auto save and then reloaded, aren't you now wherever your last autosave was?

Anyway, pretty sure blizzards hit shelters pretty hard, but no way destroy one all in one go.
