Very rarely but a few occasions has been stumbling right onto a wolf when scaling a small ridge or turning a corner and there's a bark and attack in the span of a second.

One or two times has been from spraining an ancle when just idly wandering over flat terrain.

I hate jumpscares.

And I always get them when I get a random ankle or wrist sprain.

I like that this game has no jumpscares!
The cold shivers given by nearby wolves are much better! If the wolves were less aggressive, I could actually enjoy this Halloween event.

I usually get a jumpscare when I'm sneaking around dark terrain with wolves nearby and my character suddenly yells something about how hungry she is.

Although not a jumpscare. During my hunted pt1 runs. One time I left the farmers house when ot was heavily foggy and as soon as I got to the end of the driveway I heard the crows indicate that Mr bear was nerby. Turn around and there he is. Back two paws growling at me. I managed to scare him off with a flare but the way he ran into the fog felt like that scene from "Wallace and gromit:Curse of the wererabbit" where the shadow of the wererabbit distorts. It was like some kind of horror movie.

Then on a second playthrough I cagged him inside the fenced area of Carter Hydro Dam but for the rest of the challenge it was so uneasy not having the killer bear chaseing you.

I hate to break it to you, there are jumpscares (at least in sky co-op, I got a loud *DONG* and in the corner I see the affliction "FEAR" I turn around and there is a solid white man standing there for just a moment and it disapears (I was at the plane crash in pleasant valley playing on the older constraint build in survival)

When I get a badge. Every time.
Something also when I get a skill level up. The sounds they choose for that are very scary when you are not expecting them.
And also wolf bark when I do not expect wolf to be near.

Over the years of playing this game my jumpscares have gone from the bark of a wolf chasing me to the long howl of the timberwolves, because somehow the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ALWAYS SEE ME FROM SOME LITTLE NOOK BEHIND A ROCK. Havent successfully shot dead one of those howlers in over a year now.
Now its just *HOWL*
*futilely looking around* "Oh ♥♥♥♥ oh ♥♥♥♥, I dont see it- run RUN RUN, AT LEAST THAT'LL GET ME SOME DISTANCE SO I CAN SHOOT"
