A fast way to Lv 5 Mending skill?
Hey everyone,

Sooo Im on the final stretch for, so far, completing every achievement in the game. The only two left are "survive 500 days" and the one saying you have to Lv 5 every skill. Doesnt seem too difficult to do, all I have to do is shoot stuff with my rifle, fish and make some more fires. May take a while but I can do those whenever. Now my only real problem is the mending one... Im on Lv 4 1/2 right now and I already repaired every piece of clothing I could possibly find, aswell as every sleeping bag I could find in the entire in game world and I also read every book... is all I can do now wait for my cloth to sloooowly degrade? Do I have to throw myself in front of wolves frequently? Will placing clothes outside degrade them faster?
Please give me a lil hint on what I could do to speed that up a bit. Im already on day 250 or so and explored everything so I cant do much more right now.

Thanks~

It's my understanding that mending something at 99% still gives you full credit for the mend, even though you are only gaining one point.

If you have plenty of rabbit hides and guts laying around, just keep mending your mittens every day and that might help.

I'm in a similar situation right now. I'm 421 days into a 500 day run to get my achievement. I have all skills at 4 except mending. I plan to get Silent Hunter, Pacifist, and Living off the Land on my next Loper run. I suck at stoning bunnies so don't have that one yet either. How in the world did you get Penitent Scholar?

That mending skill takes the longest to get to L5. I was getting frustrated because it looked like my progress bar wasn't moving much at all even though I was mending like a seamstress on crack. I decided to do a little research, and there it was right on the Wiki. This chart helps explain everything.

So you basically have to mend 200 items to go from L4 to L5! Ugh. I'm at 280 right now and collecting every last scrap of cloth I can. ML has been completely wiped out, moving to CH for more.

Just keep checking your stats to see where you are and keep on mending till you get there!

I got that achievement while playing. Every time I found a skill book I read it, thats basically how I leveled up for the first half of my current run. Here, maybe that will help you:

200?! Wow... okay well, I really hope its true what Lenny Rat said and 99% counts, otherwise its time to become the chewing bone for local wolves.

Standing outside or walking around during a blizzard is another surefire way to degrade your clothes as well.
